It would be great if we can pass filters in the url of the dashboard, which will filter the reports based on various parameters e.g. current fiscal period, geography, person's role, department etc.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the filter survey last year and for leaving detailed comments below in the meantime as well. We used your feedback to prioritize and release two enhancements to our filtering: 1. In June, we released the ability to share report filters with others. Behind the scenes, this creates a bookmark with the current slicer/filter state and share a URL containing that bookmark ID. You can use that URL as you wish – in portals, your own emails, anywhere! 2. In August, we expanded support for URL filters on reports, by supporting additional data types (datetime), additional operators beyond equals (greater than or equals, greater than, less than or equals, less than), and the ‘in’ operator to allow filtering on multiple values easily. See more details at https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-report-url-filter-improvements/ We hope these improvements have been helpful to you. If this wasn't enough and you still want other functionality, please vote on one of these ideas: - For filters on dashboards, which would pave the way for filtering through the URL: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/6674820-global-filter-in-dashboards - For personal bookmarks: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/31788253-personalized-bookmarks

RE: Pass filters in URL

It's been over a year since the last comment. Any idea of when this is scheduled?

RE: Pass filters in URL

This really is a critical need, and it needs to support 'hidden' parameters that cannot be changed by the user. As mentioned in numerous comments on this thread, this is needed for application developers who want to integrate the power of Power BI into their applications that are either internally built or commercially built supporting many different user communities, and supporting a tenant model. For example, we are a Microsoft partner and we offer an application that integrates user identities (through SAML, openID, oAuth, etc) and associated attributes & data (roles, permissions, tenancy, etc) from a variety of 3rd party applications. We then present user-specific dashboards based on their login credentials/permissions. We have historically done this with Reporting Services as the visualizations within a .Net C# application, and would LOVE to extend this capability with Power BI, but do not see a pathway to facilitate this securely. If I'm missing some feature that facilities this, please enlighten me, because it's not evident to me (using SQL Server - not Analysis Services).

RE: Pass filters in URL

There should be an easy way to pass filters to a Dashboard. Kind of Tenant Id so that whole data will be filter to that Tenant. This is more common scenario for multi-tenant applications.

I agree with others. This is a key feature and could force us to use another product. I am curious about the timeline of when this will be implemented? It has been planned for 10 months now. May we have an update?

RE: Pass filters in URL

Is there a way to pass multiple filters for a tile. WE are able to filter the data using one filter only and when we tried to pass multiple filters it didn't work. There should be a way to pass multiple filters to an embedded tile

RE: Pass filters in URL

filters are essential. the big challenge would be to add secure filters, not only by the URLs. that would make PowerBI better!

RE: Pass filters in URL

You can pass filters via the URL in reports, so why not dashboards? And please make sure dimension names can include spaces.
