What about adding input fields to the dashboard widgets. Kind of like the text field but it is enabled for user input. This input field can be used in new column and new measure fields so that once the dashboard is set up the user can easily (without filtering) explore the data by entering different values such as if you had an input box for unit price. Then if you change it all the charts of total sales, revenue, etc. Will update to reflect what would happen if you increase the price by 10%. This will enable people to quickly and easily interrogate the data

Thanks for the feedback! This is something we'd like to get to in the future but don't have any plans for at the moment. We suggest checking out the visual Text filter on AppSource in the interim.

RE: input fields

In the company we use Spotfire and this functionality is very interesting, since in addition to being able to include the data, it still stores the information in the database, that is, we can retrieve and even compare the information entered.
Great idea when available in POwer bi, because the parameter option does not have this functionality.

RE: input fields

Great idea and definetely needed. In my case, I would also suggest to work as a Comment area. For example, in one specific line of data, a user could add a relevant comment to it, in order to allow other users to comprehend something specific.

RE: input fields

This definitely needs to happen, it can make the business case for Power BI to be the only BI solution for an organization.

RE: input fields

To put a finer point on the suggestion. I would like to see a column or range of empty cells (like in Excel) where values can be pasted by a user, that in turn filters the database providing a pivot table like results.
I built a tool in Excel that does just that. It provides a named range, that a user pastes "skus" into, up to 200, then clicks a button that runs a macro, filtering a pivot table field of "skus" The data source is a static worksheet in the workbook that was created in another tool joining two data sources. If Power BI could do the "macro" part that would be ideal.
Our company, HPE Software is using POWER BI more and more for our analytics and I would like to as well. Thanks. dkmanley
