Starburst is used by the biggest financial institutions in Europe as their Data Lake Analytics Platform of choice.
In order to satisfy strict security and audit requirements in regulated industry we need to properly identify who (user) is accessing data from Power BI Service (app.powerbi.com) and apply our access control rules.
The above is not possible today, use of an on-premise Gateway would require a single service account and will hide the true identity of the user, removing security access control rules to the data.
We are looking to support Single Sign On (SSO) connectivity from Power BI to Starburst using Azure AD to overcome these limitations by passing user credentials down to Starburst.
