Hi Team,

Please provide backup feature for power bi reports.suddenly if i deleted reports from server there is not option to retrieve the reports as of now.

If you can provide this feature at service level that will be very useful to maintain the backup reports.

Regards,
Bajee.

RE: Backup of power Bi Reports

Hello Microsoft, please prioritize this request from 2017 and create a feature to backup these files periodically from the powerbi service without having to manually download it. Backup is a basic feature and critical to the proper operation of reports.

https://sidequests.blog/2021/02/01/exporting-all-your-power-bi-reports-at-once/

It is already possible to export all reports (having the datasets included)

But to improve this it would at least be nice to have a property field that tells if a certain report is recently updated.

For now only a dataset has a CreatedDate property so the best I can do now is to get the createdDate of the related dataset or I have to query the activity events to see if a report was updated.

Back up of artifacts in the service should become more easy. Now we are sometimes forced to ask around, hey do you have that pbix file still somewhere.

This is really needed, I'm surprised there isn't versioning like you get on OneDrive to rewind data sets & report states. Especially as I cannot download the pbix files off the server, I always worry that someone will delete or destroy days & weeks of work.

Associated objects like comment threads should also be backed up and restorable with those reports.

RE: Backup of power Bi Reports

I learnt that if I delete a data source in the service and reupload it (to fix field naming changes) that if it is an excel file being uploaded then all the reports using it are deleted automatically. Strangely, the same does not happen if it is a .pbix that is published to the service and replaced. So this caused me a lot of grief as I had around 20 reports that were made in the service, without a backup, all using the one excel powerquery file.
