Say I use a bookmark to bring up a Slicer Panel. I don't want that panel obscuring my dashboard (unless #1 is implemented). Instead, I effectively want the canvas to resize to *include* the displayed panel when open, so that the user still sees ALL the old content as well as the new content.

I assume the #1 is "Allow end users to move unlocked things around the screen. Why? It lets us build dialog box that can be moved by users so as not to obscure things. " from the Twitter thread that linked me here.

Containers in general would be a great help. Currently I have filter panes in a few places triggered by bookmarks. These are a nightmare to maintain, as bookmark management is not the best for this scenario. Being able to drop everything into a container and not worry about making sure bookmarks captured every last item each time the pane is updated would mean I could make these filter panes a lot better as I would be able to edit without distractions, and be done without even touching the bookmarks.

There is already functionality I haven't added to dashboards that could be enabled by a well-designed implementation of this Idea. I have an exceptions dashboard, where horizontal space is often at a premium. It would be useful to show a "top offenders" list for the exceptions, but this can't be permanent as there's often no room. I tried a version of this, but maintaining bookmarks per page and the associated bits to make it work meant other requests pushed this out and it was never done. If I could just drop a panel which has a switch that says "Expand page to right" and have Power BI handle the UI stuff, most of my job would be done and this could get added.
