Large SAP BW installations with thousands of users are often accessed via single-sign-on (SSO) e.g. the users windows credentials are used to authenticate to BW. SSO simplifies the user experience and reduces user administration costs. These users should be able to setup on-premise gateway connections that can be used to refresh data sets in the Power BI Service. The connections should leverage that individuals BW roles & authorizations and not require a BW password i.e. automatically associate the Power BI user ID to the associated SAP user ID.

Comments SAP Business Object is a must. By allowing such connection we could leverage on the investments made on BO universes.
So please consider adding SAP BO as a datasource.

Just want to second the ability for powerbi to use the universe web services would be most excellent.
We are an SAP house so real time dashboards from our SAP HANA, ECC and BW. Priority in that order.
I believe you now have a HANA connector that we are working with our Microsoft Account team to investigate. This would be very useful.
Today we mostly leverage SAP BW and have built BO universes on top of our existing datasets. To contemplate a global migration to Power BI we would need to leverage this existing investment and have a secure and efficient pull of data at runtime to minimize data security challenges and minimal replication of data between our systems.
Today we also use the data access authorisations from our SAP systems. Tapping into this so prevent building a new data security layer would also be a game changer.
