Provide option to remove the focus mode border. This has the effect of messing up the experience of the report in most cases. If I want to allow focus mode on a detailed chart, then I can enable it. But in most cases it is extra UI baggage

We provided the ability to turn off the visual header box in the March 2018 release! This will hide the focus mode icon across your visuals. https://powerbi.microsoft.com/es-es/blog/power-bi-desktop-march-2018-feature-summary/#visualHeader

RE: Optionally remove focus mode box

I like having the on focus border show up when I am designing the report, it helps me align the visualizations.
However when the report is published those on focus borders become distracting and in my opinion lessen the look of the report.
It would be nice to have a setting that when published the on focus borders are not visible or even in the Format – Border section have the option to not show the on focus border (On-Off). It would be nice to be able to turn on-off all the borders for all the visualizations on the Format- Page section (helps with lining up the controls).

It would be nice to have an option in the Format tab to have the ability to align the on focus border to a the nearest visualization (Top, Top-Left, Top-Right, Left, Right, Bottom, Bottom-Left, Bottom-Right).

This one would be a great one to have. When they do look at this optionally removing the Export Data would solve a lot of my issues with data leaking.

Agree with comments, should be configurable on each element with :
-disabled by default for textbox, filters, images, etc.
-enabled y default for any data element (for backward compatibility)

RE: Optionally remove focus mode box

This focus border really screws things up when you are layering several elements. For example, you wan to use a doughnut chart and put a KPI in the middle of it.

Like this

When you combine visuals like this any time you hover over it, you see the border around the object which makes it look unfinished and unprofessional.

There are several requests for having the ability to turn off the border highlight, these requests could be combined.

Please give the option to remove this. Looks so poor when using on tablet

RE: Optionally remove focus mode box

Please just let us turn this off! I do understand the focus mode (even though it should be optional) but the borders? What purpose do they have? I often end up designing my visuals with a permanent border just sort of to hide the on-hover border.

My suggestion is to give us the possibility to turn off the border and the possibility to turn of the focus mode options. Also, how about designing it so that the focus mode (and other option icons) is displayed when clicking on the visual, not just when hovering?

RE: Optionally remove focus mode box

I agree this is worth considering. In meeting I had people questioning me about the focus mode border appearing in the dashboard. While they're there for good intents I think opt-out would make it even more useful.

Yes! I think this is extremely needed to improve user experience when navigating and exploring. It is confusing for users and is not adding any value in the big majority of use cases.

Yes. This is much needed for overall user experience. Do we know if this will be planned any soon?
