R Script on PowerBI (Online)

Right now we can develop dashboards using R on PowerBI Desktop, but when the dashboard is imported on PowerBI Online this doesn't work. We should be able to import the dashboard from the online version.

Full screen mode for web embedded Power BI visualizations

The ability to full screen web embedded Power BI visualizations like YouTube allows for videos or open the visual in another tab. In the Best Report Contest (January 2016) you link to contestant entries that are embedded in web pages in the Power BI site. The visual were hard to read and naviga...

We've added the show full screen option for Publish to web reports. You'll now find a new icon on the bottom right of the embed that takes your report full screen. If you have an existing embed code, it will open the report in a new browser tab. If you create a new iFrame you'll see that we include the allowfullscreen="true" attribute on the iFrame so it can open in place. If you add this attribute to your existing embed codes it will open the report full screen in place as well. Thank you for using Power BI and keep the suggestions coming! -Lukasz

Today I’m very excited to announce the availability of the Power BI report web part for SharePoint Online! We’ve heard from you that you wanted an easy way to securely share Power BI reports in internal sites, enforce security permission, including data security. We’ve been busy at work with the SharePoint team building an out-of-the-box web part for SharePoint Online using their new Modern Pages infrastructure. The new web part we are releasing today enables SharePoint authors to embed Power BI reports directly in SharePoint Online pages with no code required! The feature is available today for Office 365 First Release customers. Truely, this is the 'private' publish to web. You can read more about it on the Power BI Blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/integrate-power-bi-reports-in-sharepoint-online/ I know from reading many of the comments below that there are other cases in which people want to embed in external portals that enforce authentication, or on billboards that update data frequently. We have a great solution you can build on in Power BI Embedded, an Azure service you can use to build these kinds of experiences. You can read about it here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/power-bi-embedded/ We really appreciate all the feedback and ideas. Please tell us what else you'd like to see us add to Power BI. -Lukasz

Create calculated measures on top of a live SSAS connection

Creating a live connection to SSAS MD or Tabular is working just fine. However, it would be very beneficial to have the ability to create new calculated measures (in MDX). Just like we can create our own calculated measures when writing an MDX query for a SSRS dataset.

Hi everyone! I'm really excited to announce that you can now create calculated measures on top of a live SSAS connection! The measures are stored in your report definition and sent along with the queries to your model. You can read more information about that here https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/. We're planning support for quick measures in this mode soon, and also looking at expanding this further based on your feedback: - If you want calculated columns/tables you can vote here https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19140907-create-calculated-columns-when-using-ssas-live-con - If you want support over SSAS Multidimensional, vote here https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19140997-calculated-measures-when-live-connected-to-mdx-cub Thanks everyone!

This is available for tables in Power BI. In the July release of Power BI Desktop, we included options for predefined table styles. You also have the option to customize the grid, format of the headers, turn on/off totals, etc. manually through the formatting pane.

Nested X Axis Labels

In a regular PivotTable we can nest axis labels e.g. we can group regional data by year. Currently PowerBI only supports one level of X axis labels. There are loads of areas where this would be useful but one example is with the MailChimp campaign data which currently only allows you to list ...

Allow mailto: hyperlinks in Power BI tables

Currently hyperlinks in tables must begin with www., http:// or https://. Add "mailto:" as an accepted hyperlink prefix. This would be very helpful for quickly allowing users to see an insight in the data, have the dashboard tell them who the right person to contact would be to address the is...
