  1. Drill-through, actions & parameter passing - just make it work

A truly functional BI solution requires every dashboard, report or navigation UI to work together. This means that we need the ability to define actions and pass context information from one report interface to another - and there are far too many ways to do this in limited ways that don't work consistently across the products in the "integrated" BI arsenal.
In my perfect world, I define a cube action in SSAS (multi or Tabular) and that action gets surfaced in whatever reporting tool we choose to use (Excel/Excel Services, SSRS, Power View or Power BI dashboard). Through whatever action/parameter…

  4. More control in Report Parameter section

In Reporting Services, when you design a report, the parameter section has limited functionality. User can only change sequence of parameters. Besides that, user has no control over the parameters like background colors, size of fields, combining and showing multiple fields in the dropdowns etc

  5. Allow Charts to switch rows to columns or vice versa at design time to display the data on the axis that you want.

Allow Charts to switch rows to columns or vice versa at design time to display the data on the axis that you want. Similar functionality exists in excel.

  7. Subscriptions Management Tool

Centralized management tools for subscriptions for SSRS reports. Running in SP integrated mode we need a way to see in the SP subscription list something unique to visually identify subscriptions. Something as simple as displaying a comment or allowing the subscriptions "manager" to enter a name/title for the subscription. We also need a consolidated view/report to see all the subscriptions with the parameters and schedule selected as well as the user email address would be helpful.

  8. Native support for Java application to Analysis Services (JASC - Java Analysis Services Connect)

We need a native connection to Analysis Services for Java similar to the SQL relational database using JDBC. On the C#, we have ADOMD.NET. We need the equivalent for other enterprise programming languages with Java being the biggest outside C#. Requiring our customer to setup IIS with the data pump dll is an extra support overhead. We also pull a lot more data across the network due to the SOAP request.

  9. Support for more data sources

Support for more data sources such as OData, HDInsight/HDFS etc. Maybe converge the support/approach similar to the support in Power Query or PowerPviot.

  10. Better control over the placement of the paramters

Currenty if you want to control where the parameters should be placed you have sometimes to add additional dummy parameters.

  12. Retain parameter focus with a large parameter list.

Retain parameter focus with a large parameter list. Focus goes back to the top forcing users to scroll back down to finish parameter selection.
