  1. Connect two data sources by key

It would be great to query and compare two (or more) different data sources by a unique key, such as email address or phone number. This would make Power BI incredibly powerful.

      • Connectivity to Google sheets

Connecting to Excel workbooks in OneDrive is a great first step, but connectivity to Google Sheets should be there too.

        • Visual Studio TFS (on premises)

Team Foundation Server 2013 on-premises comes with reports but they are slow to build, slow to query and suffer frequent outages.

          • Power Insight for Power BI

Create an area on a report designer or dashboard for each location or report on the dashboard that if the user clicks on it, it would bring up an Insight window explaining what is on that report/dashboard. What insights can be gained from viewing the data. What are things to watch out for, etc. this allows the report builder / dashboard content organizer to help the user understand the data they visualize. This is nothing more than a popup box with free-form text that allows the report writer to customize the message they want to convey to the consumer of…

            • Metadata: Allow the naming of relationships in order to enhance Metadata and Q&A

              Hi,

I like the fact that in Q&A users can ask questions such as 'sales by country' and all that. However what I would like to suggest is an improvement to that. By allowing use to name the relationship between two tables.

              The idea is two-fold.

First, this enhances the Enterprise Data Management by allowing us to have richer metadata, so the business can understand exactly the relationships between tables.

Second, I imagine this would enhance the Q&A by allowing for more complex questions since, we could categorise a relationship with actions such as 'buy' and 'purchase', 'call', 'request', 'assigns',…

Hi Pedro. We actually already have a feature (in Power BI for O365) that addresses the second part, called Phrasings. There’s lots of information on those here: https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/About-QA-Phrasings-and-how-to-add-them-to-your-workbook-027670ab-ac99-4ba5-b0e5-d5ebf2cb9d8b?ui=en-US&rs=en-IE&ad=IE

At the moment they’re not exposed through the new Power BI interface, but we will do soon! You can try them out through Power BI for O365 now.

The ability to name them for end-user metadata reasons still stands! We could certainly expose that through our UI to make it clearer how your models are organised.

                Thanks!

              • URL access to Report

Several customers and partners that were briefed have already asked about getting URL access to a Report for using inline frame type embedding in SharePoint, Web Pages and Web Applications.

                • Add a connector to Perforce Source Control

Git is cool and all, but Perforce is used by a lot of companies specifically because it works well with large data sets and large amounts of data. Hooking something like Power BI up to a large Perforce repository would really set free some important data

                      • Enable export and replay of the actions performed on a Query to shape data

Enable exporting of the actions performed on a Query so that it can be edited and re-used. Open Refine / Google Refine has such a feature.

                        • Allow superfine grain on X-Axis of a chart

Allow 100 or more data points on an X-Axis without requiring the user to scroll left/right.

Labels on the X-Axis can be dropped or thinned to allow. But can have higher resolution detail on the shape of the graph lines

                          • Improvement areas

1- No support for export to anywhere such as Excel and Powerpoint.
2- No support to connect to a tabular model hosted on Azure or on-premise. Power BI app does not properly display an excel sheet that contains pivot tables and slicers.
3- No rich formatting options such as changing column headers, wrapping.
4- No ability to move/copy the place of a power view sheet in an excel workbook.

It would be great if you make improvement on these areas. Thank you

                              • Overlapping between Power BI designer and Excel are confusing

                                Hi,

At the time of this Preview, MSFT is marketing the new Power BI report designer as a tool for those who don't have Excel 2013.

However upon using the designer it is quite evident that it has features that Excel 2013 does not have, such as the ability to have many-to-many relationships without DAX coding and additional chart types (e.g. trees).

Plus the Power BI file extension denotes that this seems to be a completely different report format from what we can do in Excel (xlsx files and embedded Power View rdlx). I am wondering if MSFT plans to…

Hi Pedro. The Designer will often have features in advance of Excel as it can be updated more frequently. However, we do want to push as much as possible into Excel in the future.

To your point about on-premises deployments, there’s another suggestion to support that here: http://support.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi/suggestions/6867727-use-power-bi-alongside-ssrs-on-prem-sql-server-201 so please add your support there!

                                • Ability to duplicate a Report slide similar to PowerPoint

I would like to create a report slide and then duplicate it similar to PowerPoint functionality. This would allow minor tweaks to be applied to existing visualizations without having to rebuild them again in another slide.

                                  • Edit or add queries from the web

I imagine this is going to be included within the ability to edit connections, but I would like the ability to edit an existing query or add a new one from within Power BI. Another option would be to overwrite an existing spreadsheet with one including the new queries, though conflicts might get messy.

                                      • Filter on KPI value 'color'

When showing KPI information with Red/Yellow/Green in e.g. a matrix, it should be possible to filter on color and show only red or green values

                                        • AS Connector connects to multiple AS Tabular models on the same box

I understand that I can only install the Power BI AS Connector Preview and use it to connect to one server at a time. Would like the ability to have the same AS Connector instance to point to multiple boxes and AS tabular models.
