  1. Stop Dataset refresh

Please provide option to stop refreshing dataset after refreshing manually...

If there are any performance issues in database this would lock down the table...

I even observed that reports doesnt get published until the refresh is done...

  2. Enable dashboard publishing

Very limited without this option. This is the main use people want to have for dynamic visualisations

  3. Ability to undo a deleted dataflow

Once a dataflow is deleted then it's gone. It's a BCP issue and we need to have some sort of undo or a recycle bin where it can be restored for some time.

  4. Rotate text box

Please add a basic feature with ability to rotate a text box. In many report I would like to use screen real estate effectively by having text vertically on the left allowing full height for visuals. All Office apps have this basic feature.

  5. Right-click on a table in relationship/ model view and jump directly to that table in data view

In Power Pivot it is possible to jump directly to the data view of a table in the relationship/ model view by right-clicking on it. This is extremely useful and saves a lot of time when dealing with large models. Please add this feature to Power BI Desktop. It will increase productivity with this tool in a simple way. THANKS

  6. Allow Slicers to be preset based on defined criteria

Allow Slicers to be preset based on defined criteria (i.e. DAX formula or other developer input).

For example, a dashboard that displays KPI data based on the current week end date. On displaying the dashboard the screen should default to the current end date with the user having the optional ability to set the date slicer for previous weeks.

At a stretch you could have a button with a bookmark action to run some DAX that could set the date slicer to the latest end date.

Taking this further you could also reverse and forward the slicer to the next…

  7. Power BI Desktop - Tear Away Development Windows

I suspect that many of us today have multiple monitors and/or large monitors. To make better use of the screen area during Power BI Development....

The development panes such as Fields, Visualisations, Selection, Sync Slicers, Field Properties should be able to be "torn away" and freely move to another screen... and/or allowed to float over the work area. This should also include a separate window pane for DAX code.

  8. Be able to pass parameter value specified in the URL to stored procedure

Be able to pass parameter value specified in the URL to stored procedure

Currently, Parameter value specified in the URL and pass its value to stored procedure is not possible in Power BI Report.
Found lots of Similar ideas are already submitted. Please kindly consider to implement this feature, as SQL Server Reporting Services allows us to do so using URL access.

  9. Include Reports/Dashboards from Multiple Workspaces in One App

Similar to ideas around creating multiple apps from one workspace, it would be very beneficial to have the ability to create a high-level app that includes reports from multiple workspaces. For example, our executive team would like to see specific reports from sales, accounting, and fields ops in one app instead of navigating to three different apps/workspaces to view the appropriate reports.

  10. Totals in stacked column charts

During several presentations I get questions regarding the total of stacked columns. In the current situation you can select to label all the parts of the stacked column but no grand total. I would like to see the option to add a label to the Visuals which shows the total of the stacked column (this counts for values only). Ideally this total would deviate together with the drilldowns you select, so it stays interactive whatever filters you select or subsets you create on your dashboard.

  11. Navigation builder "Section level security"

The new navigation builder is awesome for published apps, but it would be great to control access/visibility of sections to certain users of the application.

We avoid creating multiple app workspaces for multiple groups because it has become too difficult to manage, especially when publishing the same report to multiple workspaces that are filtered slightly differently.

Essentially, if I am in a specific business line, I should only see my business line's "section" in the new navigation builder based on how the workspace admin sets the security.

  12. Navigation builder

The new navigator builder is great, though limited.
It lists all the pages of the underlying report at the same level, without distinction. Suggestions:
    1) allowing to reorganize the pages in sections and subsections, creating a hierarchy. This helps user navigating in reports with many pages.
    2) allowing authorising users or group of users to view single pages or single sections / subsections

  13. Rename publish to web

The publish to web feature, while useful, leads to confusion around those new to platform and possibly non native English speakers. The terminology "publish to web" can be confused by instructions to publish report from desktop to web service, which is fine. Publish to web exposes sensitive business data if author is not careful. While there is a secure option that will be coming soon, I propose renaming the feature to "Publish to Public". The term public is a bit clearer as to the audience. Alternative option could be "publish to public web", just something to allow users/businesses to clearly…

  14. Add a report based on a shared dataset to an app, *without* being a member of the dataset workspace

For example: a shared dataset resides in WorkspaceA (all users have the Build permission). Alice uses Power BI Desktop to connect to the dataset, and publishes her report to WorkspaceB. Alice is a member of WorkspaceB, but not WorkspaceA. The issue is that she cannot add her report to the app in WorkspaceB.

But she should be able to! In our case, the reason we have WorkspaceB is so that "end users" like Alice can publish content, but for security reasons, they must not be members of WorkspaceA. So, please enable this?

  16. copy data to clipboard

Copy Data to Clipboard should be a simple right-click context menu capability --- as it has been in Tableau for years. Often, user wants data being displayed without going through export to CSV and import into Excel. Just simple copy-paste of data out of visual to clipboard to ... whatever intended ... is extremely useful.

  17. share dataset across different workspaces

There should be a way to share datasets across the different workspaces. This may be loaded to a global environment and related to capacity, it would use the capacity based on which workspace accesses it.

The benefit of this is to maintain some master datasets with calculations within them which can be joined to data from individual departmental data. Moreover this will eliminate the need of Analysis services and creating a refresh mechanism for it.

  18. Dataflows data types parity with Power Query

Dataflows should have parity with Power Query when it comes to data types.

Currently, dates are converted to datetime and fixed decimal numbers are converted to decimal numbers. Time does not work at all.

I haven't tested all other data types, so I don't know if these three types (date, time, fixed decimal number) are all we need.

  19. ODBC Data Sources in Dataflows

Please add ODBC data source connectors for Dataflows. Many of our queries connect through ODBC drivers because direct access to the DB2 database is not allowed through the DB2 driver.

  20. Deleting/copying/moving mutliple pages at once

Allow for deletion/movement/selection of multiple pages at once, as you are able to in Excel. This is critical on reports that need to be revamped.
