  1. Allow proper printing of Dashboards and report pages

    The lay-out of printed dashboards and report pages is lost when you print the page. Proper printing functionality is still missing (may 2018). In my humble opinion this should be a priority.

    • Allow non-admins to see enterprise gateways in dataflow creation

      According to my experience and the documentation, only admins of enterprise gateways can see gateways during the dataflow creation process. Can this not be opened up to report authors as well? Our enterprise gateway is controlled by IT and has one or two administrators. "Self-service ETL" won't be realized unless report authors can create dataflows using the enterprise gateway.

      • DAX Query Language Visual

        I see big value in creating a visual that can display the results of a DAX query. One way this could be deployed is a follows.
        * Add the new visual to the report canvas
        * Write a DAX query that returns a table (of course) and add this to the visual
        * The visual would respect any cross filtering coming from the report just like any other visual.

        This would give report writers very granular control to display records without having to use a table visual and a measure that triggers the display of the correct records.

          At the moment we don’t have any plans to implement this. It sounds like it’s mostly useful for learning/training? If there are other ‘production’ scenarios that you think it’d be useful, where a regular table/matrix wouldn’t work, please let us know in the comments!

          • Report page tooltip on all objects

            New report page tooltip preview feature in the March update is great.

            Would be nice if we had the option of adding this tooltip to visuals that previously didn't have a tooltip.

            For example, I have a card visual. I'd like users to get one of these mini report pages pop-up when they hover over it but as this visual doesn't have a tooltip it can't be used.

            Would be great if we can do this on other things like shapes and text boxes as well.

              Since the initial release, we added support for table, matrix, and cards.

              I’ll leave this idea open for now since there are some requests for shapes, textboxes, and buttons, but it would be helpful if people can comment on their use cases for report page tooltips on these non-visual report elements.

              Key Influencers evolution over time.
              The new Key Influencers visual does a nice job to understand the contribution of different factors in a given population. If the evaluation is performed over a given period, it is likely that some factors produce a different influence over time, i.e. the mix of factors/influencers tends to be more dynamic than static over time. For example, in a mix of products at different stages of their lifecycle, it is not uncommon to see new products behaving differently to products that initiate their decline.                 I tested the "Sync Slicers" it's a very good option but it doesn't work with Hierarchy Slicer, it will be very important to synchronize pages of report's with hierarchical slicers like Hierarchy Slicer.

                • Gateway Usage monitoring tools for Power BI Service

                  As Power Bi and other applications in the Power Platform become more prolific within the BI Cloudscape and Landscape integration, gateways will become used more and more. Having visibility to the capacity of a gateway, the volume of traffic through the gateway, which datasources are used more frequently than others, which types, etc would be a very useful resource to have within the Gateway management system.

                  • matrix data export to excel

                    Matrix data is exported to excel in tabular format. It is a lot of rework to again pivot it in excel. We want a visual matrix to be exported to excel as a matrix/cross tab.
                    same is for charts. we dont want just the underlying data. When exporting to excel from Powerbi Service, we want it to be exported as-is with all the visuals.
                    So many posts on this topic and no answers so far.

                    • One single schedule task for sequential refresh of both Dataflows + Dataset

                      The biggest thing that I’m missing is the ability to schedule a Dataflow, plus a Dataset (without Premium capacity). Now you can schedule both separately, but not in an automated sequential way.

                      • Totals in stacked column charts

                        During several presentations I get questions regarding the total of stacked columns. In the current situation you can select to label all the parts of the stacked column but no grand total. I would like to see the option to add a label to the Visuals which shows the total of the stacked column (this counts for values only). Ideally this total would deviate together with the drilldowns you select, so it stays interactive whatever filters you select or subsets you create on your dashboard.

                        • Click and Drag to Select Multiple Objects and Allow Nudge

                          Similar to the other Microsoft products, it'd be great if we could click and drag the mouse to select multiple object on a page. Then, once multiple are selected, allow us to nudge them with the arrow keys all at the same time. Right now, we have to click one at a time and nudge one at a time. Oftentimes, I have many items I've already spent time aligning and then I need to nudge them and I have to do it one at a time.

                          • Export to PDF needs to include all rows in a Table or Matrix visualization

                            The new feature Export to PDF appears to be just a screen capture of each report - whatever is currently being shown on the screen is what is captured in the pdf. When a report has a Table or Matrix visualization on it with rows that scroll beyond what is shown, these are not captured in the pdf. Need to have all the data show up in the pdf.

                            • (Real) Dual axis charts

                              It would be nice to be able to create dual axis charts and not the combo chart, to be able to drop more than one value on an axis and synchronize those axes. It would also be good to be able to control the type of mark in this instance so you could have one bar and one hash mark. Stephen Few would be happy cause we could create bullet charts (yeah those custom visuals really don't work and have bugs)

                              • copy data to clipboard

                                Copy Data to Clipboard should be a simple right-click context menu capability --- as it has been in Tableau for years. Often, user wants data being displayed without going through export to CSV and import into Excel. Just simple copy-paste of data out of visual to clipboard to ... whatever intended ... is extremely useful.

                                • Rename publish to web

                                  The publish to web feature, while useful, leads to confusion around those new to platform and possibly non native English speakers. The terminology "publish to web" can be confused by instructions to publish report from desktop to web service, which is fine. Publish to web exposes sensitive business data if author is not careful. While there is a secure option that will be coming soon, I propose renaming the feature to "Publish to Public". The term public is a bit clearer as to the audience. Alternative option could be "publish to public web", just something to allow users/businesses to clearly…

                                      As an IT administrator responsible for PBI Service management and governance. I would like the ability to create free form tags (Similar to azure portal tags). to track key metadata like a GL Code or responsible business department or other business specific information. These tags should be exposed via the API so they can be used to pull back in reports. tagging assets in the workspace (Reports, dashboards datasets) would be useful as well

                                        Allow Slicers to be preset based on defined criteria (i.e. DAX formula or other developer input).

                                        For example, a dashboard that displays KPI data based on the current week end date. On displaying the dashboard the screen should default to the current end date with the user having the optional ability to set the date slicer for previous weeks.

                                        At a stretch you could have a button with a bookmark action to run some DAX that could set the date slicer to the latest end date.

                                        Taking this further you could also reverse and forward the slicer to the next…

                                        • IntelliSense Should Use Best Practice Column and Measure Naming Conventions

                                          There is a clearly defined and accepted best practice for referencing columns and measures in the DAX language.

                                          1. Column names should ALWAYS reference the table name.
                                          TableName[Column Name]
                                          2. Measures should NEVER reference the table name.
                                          [Measure Name]

                                          This is a fundamental concept accepted by everyone with knowledge of the DAX language (everyone I know anyway).
