  1. Measure Management & DAX Editor

Anyone who uses PowerBI long enough has had a PBIX with 50-60 measures and it has become time consuming and tedious to mantain. In Excel you can do a quick find/replace to edit several formulas - in PowerBI you need to select each one individually. An "excel-like" interface for editing measures would save a lot of time! This would take PowerBI to the next level regarding productivity. I've prepared a mockup for this as well as a DAX Editor. Let me know what you think.

    • Allow visual header control per visual

The March 2018 update introduced visual header control at the report level.

Since this is currently an 'all-or-nothing' feature, please evolve this so we can control visual headers on a per visual basis.

      • IntelliSense Should Use Best Practice Column and Measure Naming Conventions

There is a clearly defined and accepted best practice for referencing columns and measures in the DAX language.

        1. Column names should ALWAYS reference the table name.
        TableName[Column Name]
        2. Measures should NEVER reference the table name.
        [Measure Name]

This is a fundamental concept accepted by everyone with knowledge of the DAX language (everyone I know anyway).

IntelliSense in DAX sometimes follows this convention and sometimes it does not. I have created a short video (40 seconds) showing 3 examples. https://youtu.be/CvaRhKrnHRk

There are other places where column names are appended to measure names too, such as inside Quick Measures, and…

        • Report page tooltip on all objects

New report page tooltip preview feature in the March update is great.

Would be nice if we had the option of adding this tooltip to visuals that previously didn't have a tooltip.

For example, I have a card visual. I'd like users to get one of these mini report pages pop-up when they hover over it but as this visual doesn't have a tooltip it can't be used.

Would be great if we can do this on other things like shapes and text boxes as well.

          • Conditional Formatting for Text

It would be great to conditional format a table and/or a matrix based on the cell text, not only numbers

            • Python Script in Power BI

It's great that Power BI already has the capability to run R scripts for data transformation. It would be even better if we could run Python script.

              • Lock placement of tables in relationships pane

The ability to 'lock' where tables are manually placed on the relationships pane would be very helpful. We have created a data model with security tables, secured dimensions, unsecured dimensions, and secured fact tables. When I lay out the tables in a specific way, the design is far more understandable than when placement is auto-generated. A 'lock' type of functionality to 'freeze' the table layout would be very helpful because I can more easily locate/verify (a) specific types of tables, (b) bidirectional relationships where they should be (and shouldn't be), and (c) relationship directions are accurate.

                • Copy/Paste from Power BI Desktop

Please allow Copy/Paste functionality from Power BI Desktop. We often need to recreate PBI reports in Excel just so we can Copy tables or charts and paste into PowerPoint or simply email it. Need stronger integration with other Office products. Copy/paste seems so basic.

Note: Our company uses PBI Desktop and PBI Report Server (on SQL server) - cloud services are not an option because of Protected Health Information.

                  • "Apply slicers to all pages of a report" needs to include custom visuals

In the "Allows Slicers to apply to all Pages of a Report" request, Microsoft resolved the issue only for built in slicers. Need this functionality to work for ALL slicers, both built in and custom.

                    • Bookmark groups

The new bookmark feature looks great. Would be useful if you could have collections of bookmarks for the presentation mode. For example, we have multiple clients that we provide campaign analysis for. It would be useful to use the same base report for these presentations but with the ability to create a group of bookmarks that are specific to that presentation. That way only one report can be used for every presentation and multiple users could have their own set of bookmarks to view a report in the ways that they specifically care about.

                      • Back-button feature to clear selected drillthrough filter value

As drillthrough function we use a filter and we give value for it from other report page. I click back-button and it will take me back to where I was before. In the background filter value stays unchanged. I use drillthrough function again. Filter value changes and I see visuals filtered with that value. I use back-button again. I navigate to that report page manually and to my surprice value selected in prev step is still selected. I know that I can open my filter selections and clear selected value but I'd like to do is to start exploring my…

                        • full screen in desktop mode

Enable full-screen mode when working on power bi desktop. Pretty often I need to display the current page in power bi desktop mode (without sync the page to office 365) and there is a space limit, some of the visualizations are small and unreadable.

                          • Open local files (file://) directly by click on url link as with (http://)

Currently open a local file from Desktop is not possible and from browser is very tedious as explained on May 2017 update:

                            https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/#urlTables

"If you want to use file URLs, there are some limitations. They will not open in the Power BI Desktop, only in web browsers. For most browsers, you will need to right click on the link, copy the link address, and paste the URL in a new tab"

It will be great if can be improved the way to open the files in same way as with web images or files (http://).

                            • Standard Visualization Design Tools

In both PBI Desktop and PBI Service, for efficient and accurate design, the user needs to have all of the following familiar design environment tools i.e.
                              - select all
                              - move all
                              - "lassoo" select multiple objects
                              - align to top of highest object
                              - align to bottom of lowest object
                              - set all objects to smallest/largest width
                              - set all objects to smallest/largest height
                              etc

                              • Have DAX Expression Checkmark Indicate Positive Results

When you type in a DAX formula, you have the option to select the green checkmark to confirm that your expression is acceptable or needs to be fixed. If there is an error, a yellow line appears below the expression that explains the problem. This is great. However, particularly for those new to Power BI, it is a but unsettling to get no feedback when you do not have an error. Some folks assume that they don't have an error as intended, but others think they might not have hit the checkmark, or that the check didn't work or that…

                                • Make Desktop available through Microsoft Update (for versions of Windows before Windows 10)

In September 2017 we announced that Power BI Desktop is available through the Windows Store, giving automatic updates: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-at-ignite-2017-announcing-enterprise-ready-capabilities-for-establishing-data-culture-at-scale/

If you're not able to update to Windows 10, vote for this idea so that Power BI Desktop can be made available through Microsoft Update to older versions of Windows.

                                    • Disable "Welcome to Power BI Desktop" Nag Screen

The "Welcome to Power BI Desktop" screen that comes up when you open Power BI Desktop is really, really annoying. I know there's a registry hack that will turn it off, but it also disables the new version alert, which I like, especially for intra-month bug fix releases. Can you please either get rid of the screen or give us the option to turn it off separately from the version notifications?

                                      • Change DAX red indicator for expressions that are NOT wrong

In a DAX formula, the color red usually indicates a problem. For example, if I type in something wrong like a bad field name, a red line appears underneath that incorrect text. However, if I put a comma between two quotes, I will get red underline. This is NOT wrong, but yet it is red. I would like for DAX expressions to only show red when there is an actual error or problem. As an example, in this expression, the comma and quotes appear red: ZipCountry = Sales[Zip] & "," & Sales[Country]

Don't limit download data file sizes

Right now I need to be able to download a large csv from Power BI desktop and I'm getting the error message: "Data Exceeds the Limit" and "Your data is too large . Some data sampling may occur". And right now the table doesn't even appear to be that large: 6 columns x 811 rows.

Idea: Please remove the governor on the ability to download large CSV files.
