Please create a data connection to CDS as a data source. This is the database model behind PowerApps65 votes
Thanks for your interest in this connector! With this update of the Power BI Desktop, there is now a preview of the PowerApps Common Data Service connector. You can read more about the preview here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-february-feature-summary/#cds
Once the Common Data Service team expands the number of people with access to the connector to everyone, we will remove the “beta” tag and close the suggestion as completed.
Is it possible to add incremental load functionality to Power Query? Pull and load just new or changed rows from source system3,827 votes
We’re pleased to announce that in the May release of Power BI Desktop you can now define incremental refresh policies for your models.
At present these only apply once the model is published to a Premium workspace in the Power BI service; we’ll be bringing it to all Pro users in the future.
You can read more about it in our blog here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#incrementalRefresh
We’re going to leave this idea open for now, so please give us your feedback while we’re in this preview phase!
The R.Execute() Power Query function only allows you to use R for ingesting data. Ideally, make R.Execute() more powerful by making it a data transformation function as well as data source. Let data be loaded from other sources, and then R.Execute() could be called in a subsequent step in the Power Query query.
Source = Excel.Workbook(File.Contents("C:\[...].xlsx"), null, true),
Custom1 = R.Execute("df<-data.frame(Source) [...]")
Transformations could all be done in R first, but it's slower in general, and you lose the convenience of blending data in Power BI itself.21 votes
Currently if auto-refresh fails, the refresh schedule is disabled meaning IT has to go in and re-enable the schedule for each data connection after any ill-timed service outage. Sadly, the schedule is also disabled silently so unless IT checks in on the dashboard they have no way of knowing refresh is turned off.157 votes
As mentioned before, we’ll still disable refresh if we notice that refresh fails consistently, but this time we’ll send you an email to inform you why we turned off refresh.
MS Access is also a key data source. Power BI should be able to connect to the same. Access allows to create consolidated files from various data sources into one table which then can contain valuable data and business insight.71 votes
we are working on supporting MS Access as data source that can be refreshed from.
You can today connect to Access from Power Query or the Power BI Designer and build reports, dashboards on it. Soon we’ll also release the capability to refresh these reports from within Power BI.
Hi Heather! We’re working on allowing you to insert images into your reports now! Please stay tuned.
