  1. streaming or hybrid data sets : allow relationships

Currently, when creating streaming or hybrid data sets, it is not possible to add relationships between different tables.
Adding this possibility would allow to have frequent data refresh but at the same time being able to have some more advance reports and dashboards

  2. Push data sets: Allow mixing with other sources via UI, not only via API

Currently, when push data sets are created, it is not possible to add other sources to add data to that data set via Power Desktop or Power Service.
At this point, and based on the documentation, push data sets can only be updated via API and this limits the amount of use cases where we can to push data to Power BI but at the same time mix it with other sources.

  3. Routine to refresh automatically the dashboards

Could you integrate an schedule routine to refresh automatic my dashboards and Syncronize wiht my source data?
Instead of expense ~10 minutes every day until my dashboard to syncronize the information. Create the option to schedule on specific hour this syncronization.

  4. View dataset setting (gateway connections, etc) without taking dataset ownership

In order to assist users in troubleshooting issues with their reports/datasets, we need to take ownership of the dataset to see the gateway connection, data sources, etc., once that happens credentials have to be refreshed and gateways reconnected by the original owner.
Being able to view these settings without taking over the dataset ownership will help troubleshoot and avoid this situation.

  5. Add refresh history to datasets (similar to dataflows)

Datasets don't allow you to see the refresh history like data flows do. It would be very helpful to have the same modal and export option that the dataflows have. This is actually really important for optimizing datasets because its useful to understand how long a dataset takes to refresh. Additionally, it's very helpful to see errors over time.

  6. Incremental Refresh Azure Table Storage and Azure Cosmos DB

Please allow incremental refresh to work against Azure table storage and Azure Cosmos DB data.

This could be achieved with a special API endpoint on each service that takes the RangeStart and RangeEnd date parameters used in incremental refresh. Power BI could then use a branch in the Power Query connection code to target these endpoints when the RangeStart and RangeEnd parameters are provided and the connection type is of the appropriate type.

This idea will make it easier to work with large quantities of Azure Web Analytics data in Power BI.

In tandem with this idea I think it…

  7. azure data lake gen 2 direct query source

the number of direct query sources are low, it would be great to get more direct query sources for example azure data lake gen 2 / blob storage etc.

  8. PowerQuery function to perform XSL Transform

There are times when an XSLT file exists already, where it would be very convenient to use it inside of PowerQuery, if that capability existed. Without this capability, we have a few workarounds:
    1. Translate the (possibly quite complicated) logic of the XSLT file into M statements
-- If we have an existing XSLT file, it probably has a change process attached to it. This option now requires us to complicate that change process to keep the M logic updated whenever the XSLT file changes
    2. Preprocess the XML being transformed
-- This option requires a separate system capable of…

  9. Expose calculated members on user hierarchies when live connected to SSAS Multidimensional

Currently, when we create calculated members in SSAS Multidimensional and put them on a user hierarchy (parent-child) they don't show on Power BI.

These calculated hierarchy elements are very useful in many scenarios, it would be great for PowerBI to be able to show them.

  12. Automatically add read permission to dataset when user has been added to a role

When adding a user to a role in a dataset, he doesn't automatically get the 'Read' permission on the dataset. This causes an issue when you have a report in another workspace based on this dataset and then publish an App. Although the user has been added to the app and is assigned to a role, the user still sees the warning that he has no access to the dataset.

That is because you need to give him Read permission manually in the 'Manage permissions' screen. This is behaviour I did not expect.

Already posted two issues about this:

  13. Incremental Refresh for Azure Cost Management Connector

Both of these tools are good but I cannot understand why Incremental Refresh is not supported with the Azure Cost Management Connector. This dataset is the perfect use case for an incremental refresh. We are pulling data from you (MS) and there is no need to re-pull all this old data just to get the new sets. The result is your processing power is used for 2 hours to refesh, with all the complications that come with such a long process.

  14. PBI Desktop Live Connection to SSAS Tabular Cubes via MSMDPUMP

PBI Desktop should support the use of MSMDPUMP to connect SSAS Tabular Cubes. This would allow external users to use PBI Desktop to build and deploy dashboards and reports improving the adoption of the Power BI platform

  16. Query folding support for ADLSg2

Add "Query folding" support to Azure Data Lake Gen 2 (ADLSg2). So if I use incremental load, it shouldn't do a dumb list / then filter down, it should do a smart list /2020/06/02 for example.

This might need "CDM" to define the structure required.

  17. Multiple Tables in PushStreaming Data Model

Right now when using PushStreaming datasets we are limited to 1 table in a single dataset. This creates a large, very flat table that can be pretty inefficient.

It would be helpful to be able to create multiple tables to create a cleaner, more defined data model when displaying real-time data.

  18. Option to export dataset Lineage view data

For admin and housekeeping purpose, I find myself having to look at data sources a lot. The lineage view helps tremendously with this but having the ability to export all the data sources and lineage metadata into a file (csv, json, xlsx, ...) would be great

  19. XML Import noNamespaceSchemaLocation support

XML imports ignore local xsd file (noNamespaceSchemaLocation). Automatic type detection makes a mess esp. when there are records that have null values (empty elements) like blank strings and it imposes the Table type. Power Query is excellent but now useless in cases where the incoming data formats (or presence or absence of data) fool the automatic type detection.

  20. GeoJson as a option for data source to upload in Power BI

GeoJson as a option for data source to upload in Power BI. This would be helpful for anyone interacting with map visuals.
