  1. Increase scheduled refresh frequency to 24 times per day in Pro License

Allow to schedule refresh at least 24 times per day in power BI. Currently it is 8 times per day only. it will help end user to analyze important data more frequently every day. We have seen many customer who needs data on hourly basis.

  2. Add support for Role in Snowflake Connector

Currently, the Snowflake user's default role is used for the connection. Need the ability to specify a Snowflake role if a user is assigned to more than one role. Role is already an optional parameter in the ODBC connector that is required to be installed. Using the ODBC connector instead will not work as DirectQuery is needed from the Snowflake Connector.

  3. Stop Dataset refresh

Please provide option to stop refreshing dataset after refreshing manually...

If there are any performance issues in database this would lock down the table...

I even observed that reports doesnt get published until the refresh is done...

  4. Don't overwrite dataset parameter values in workspace with each publish

On Power BI service you are able to set parameter values under the dataset settings. In my case I use these parameters for the server and database name.
The reason I do this is to be able to develop against a limited dev database and to run the dataset against a production database on PBI service.
On each publish of the dataset the parameter values in the workspace are overwritten with the values from PBI developer.

The best solution would be to be able to set some "deploy" options when publishing the pbix file. In these options you should then…

  6. Re-sizable SQL Statement Box in Power Query

In Power Query, make the SQL Statement box re-sizable.

I would like to maximize the size of this box so I can see my SQL statements a lot easier. This would be handy, especially for those writing long SQL queries.

  7. Restore a dataset refresh to a previous refreshed date / point

When a dataset is refreshed and a data issue is found which occurred due to underlying datasources, which needs some time to be fixed. There should be a way to restore the refreshed dataset to a previously refreshed point.

  8. Stop duplicating ADLSg2 connections and display the account name

When you connect to a Azure Data Lake Gen 2 (ADLSg2) you connect to storage account, then pass in the container and a path.

    For example:
    https://PowerBIIdeas.dfs.core.windows.net/datalake/example1/

If you then create another connection - this time filtered to:
    https://PowerBIIdeas.dfs.core.windows.net/datalake/example2/

This will then duplicate, so you have two connections in the Power BI service and you have to duplicate the credentials.
You do this so you don't query the entire storage account.

To make matters worse, once you publish, you do not see the account name, you just get whitespace.

  10. Add Python and R Library / Package support for neo4j

Currently there is only 1 method for getting Neo4j data into Power BI and that's through manually writing an HTTP POST API call in Power Query Script.

Please add the following Python Packages:
neo4j (officially supported neo4j python driver)
    Py2neo

Also please add the following R packages from the CRAN Library:
    neo2R
    neo4jshell
    neo4r

  11. Add gsheets as a datasource

    Hi,

I would like to use *.gsheet files as datasources.
Right now I need to convert my gsheet file to a xmls file, upload it again to gdrive and then refer to them using Drive File Stream in order to use it from any pc from the office.

If I could read the sheet directly I would not need to perform all the steps and it would be automatic.

    Thanks,
    Nora.

  12. load a json file into app.powerbi.com

Just want to reduce the time opening up json files and place them in powerbi to explore the issue directly.

  13. Allow Azure Plan Customers to access their own Azure Cost Management data via Power BI

We would like to be able to restrict the data accessibility to Azure Cost Management data via Power BI. Currently, customers will get access to the entire data (including other customers) when provided the CSP's Billing Profile ID/Enrollment Number.

  14. Combine several published datasets in one report

It would be nice to be able to combine already published datasets in a single report with the Get data --> Power BI Datasets option. Now it only allows one. Thanks!

  15. CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option

    Hi everyone,
Currently the "Common Data Service (beta)" connector in Power BI only features "import" queries for data.
In 2017 there was a release of a "PowerApps Common Data Service" connector, that featured direct queries:
    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/cdsconnectortopowerbi/
    "Reports reflect real time data
There’s no need to schedule a refresh in Power BI. When the data is updated in CDS, changes are reflected in reports. Reports are interactive and responsive. You can interactively explore CDS data using the capabilities of Power BI."
    Will this feature come again?
Direct query would be especially helpful in combination with passign through the current user, so…

  16. Customizable view for dataset list

Allow for addition of data columns when viewing lists of datasets, dataflows, reports etc. For instance allow users to add columns listing things like dataset's owner, report creation date, etc.

  18. Multiple live connections

We have created a ‘golden dataset’ using Azure Analysis Services. Unfortunately, Power BI only supports only one live connection.
Hence, people go back to Excel to combine data from different (Tabular) models because Excel supports combining an almost indefinite number of connections from different sources.
I suggest to extent to ability of Power BI to support multiple live connections, starting binding the live connection to a Power BI page, so not the ability to combine the models.
Filtering could be ‘global’, so across the models.
This way you can present the user a Power BI report that makes use of…

  19. Power BI - Connection to Scaled out System for HANA Databases

Current status - Connection to HANA scaled out system is supported but to only 1 host.
Required Enhancement - When HANA is on scaled our system, if the master node fails over, the hostname changes and hence the connection fails. Need the feature to support potential master nodes to be added to connection properties.

  20. Package Power BI Desktop and Data Gateway with installer for all supported connectors

Package all supported data sources as installable options from Power BI Desktop or Data Gateway. This would avoid having to track down and install the connectors and just get straight to building terrific reports. Also, would ensure data connector compatibility. No longer needed to go to Oracle, Teradata, MySQL, SQLite, etc.. and install each of their native connectors. That would be a huge time saver and reduce headaches.
