  1. Force dataset takeover to new after manipulation of dataset

Whenever a user overwrites a dataset in the Power BI Service he should be forced to takeover the dataset, to make sure this user is authorized for the connected data sources.

Gateway datasource are authorized to certain users only. According to the documentation only these users should be able to publish reports that use the data source and therefore to decide what information is made available to the consumers of the report.
By downloading the PBIX file, changing and republishing the dataset any edit user of the workspace can extract any data they want from the data source even though…

  3. Add Email Gateway Admins button/Conversation Thread on Gateway Settings Browser Page

When accessing the Gateway via App.PowerBI.com, can we add a 'Email Gateway Admins' button in the Administrators tab so that we can quickly notify other admins of issues, or when an admin will be updating the gateway, etc.? Also, would love to have a Teams style conversation thread in this Gateway settings area... Think about it, Admins can be in many organizations, and there is no automatics way to communicate with them at this time!

  4. Allow Automation for ON-premises installation

Allow Automation for ON-premises Gateway installation.
We have 20 Servers with Enterprise Gateways install on them.
As new versions come out, we want to update the Gateway on all servers. However, we can not use a silent install since it is non-existing feature. We have to go server-by-server and install the gateway and then configure it. Please allow silent install just like SQL Server

  7. Personal gateway on cellphone

Would like to have a personal gateway on my cellphone. It would make emergency refreshes and refreshes while traveling so much easier

  8. Provide option to set primary gateway in Gateway Cluster

According to document: "The Power BI service always uses the primary gateway in the cluster, unless it’s not available. In that case, the service switches to the next gateway in the cluster, and so on." We're hoping to have option to assign Primary gateway, then if service switches to other gateway, it can change back to primary gateway after service working well. The reason is some DB are restricted for specific IP connection within firewall setting, and our secondary gateway is float IP configuration, which will not access to DB data source.

  9. Removal of mandatory UPN authentication in SSAS reports via gateway

It would be very useful if users mapped in SSAS reports do not require belonging to an active directory, not all server users have UPN and we believe it would be a beneficial improvement to implement in future versions of the gateway, since from the data source of the service it gives as correct but since the connection from the gateway with SSAS gives authentication errors and that is an inconsistency

  10. Approval Process for Gateways / Prevent Personal Gateways

Build an approval process for Gateways before they become Active on a tenant. The approval process would be manged by the Power BI Admin. This approval process could be a feature the Power BI Admin can enable / disable, defaulting to disabled to retrain backward compatibility.

Current reality allows anyone with a Pro License to push any internal data they have access too to the service. With the right permission they can then push this data public without restrictions.

This feature is a must have in an Enterprise concerned about how data is used / managed. Just because some has…

  11. when a gateway refresh fails email gateway administrators

Currently when a refresh fails only the owner of the report/dataset is sent an email to let them know.
An email should also be sent to the enterprise gateway administrators so they are aware of the failure.

  13. Show Gateway Version in Manage Gateways

Add the gateway's version into the area "Managed Gateways". Often we have access to various gateways within the organisation but no way to tell if they are being kept up to date. I know the ones I look after, but nothing about the ones under other staff's responsibility. This would let me troubleshoot issues better.

  14. Have one gateway connection for multiple databases in an instance

Have one gateway connection for multiple databases within an instance so that you don't have to manage multiple database connections for the same instance.

  15. Dataset refresh schedule option for refreshing every 15 or 30 minutes with a start and stop time.

The dataset refresh only allows 8 scheduled times throughout the day. Either on the hour or half hour. It would be great to have a start time and end time with an interval time, like 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, etc. when to run this.

  16. Reset data source setting with same computer

Currently Power BI have feature it can access only one data source setting from one system and does not have option to edit or delete the data source. Most of the times Database, Server-name are read only mode. if user want to delete all existing settings and re-create one there is not option available in Power BI now. It will be grate if it gives full freedom to reset the account or settings.

  17. support for SAP BW SSO using sapcrypto

Please start supporting sapcrypto in the setup of SSO SAP BW connections. Currently only gsskrb5 is supported by Microsoft, which is no longer actively supported by SAP.

    More details:

We need to establish Direct Query for SAP BW using SSO, in order to respect the user authorizations in SAP.
Below is an extract from steps required to configure SSO:

"gsskrb5 is no longer actively supported by SAP. For more information, see SAP Note 352295. Also note that gsskrb5 doesn't allow for SSO connections from the data gateway to SAP BW Message Servers. Only connections to SAP BW Application Servers are…

  18. More control of SSAS direct query cache refresh

There needs to be more control over the automated cache refresh for Direct Query connections, specifically to SSAS.

At present Power BI reruns all recent queries (for each individual user, when there's row level security) as soon as it detects any processing on the cube.

If a cube is processed in separate batches then this adds an incredible load on the SSAS box when we're trying to continue processing.

    Additional options are required including:
    - Disable auto cache refreshing
    - Disable auto cache refreshing between certain times
    - Only auto refresh the cache when measure groups are processed, not dimensions…

  19. Ability to amend Gateway Owner

Provide the ability to change ownership of On-Premise Data Gateway object; right now only the owner (who installed the Gateway) can upgrade the gateway to a new version without creating a new Connection Object in Azure (creating a new connection object would require migration of all connections i.e. LogicApps to this object).
