  1. Apply cross-filters to data in DAX

    Cross-filters only apply to measures. It would be useful to have the ability to apply the current cross-filters to a DAX calculation you can use in columns (and possibly other measures too). The function would probably look something like:

    APPLYCROSSFILTERS(<Table>) returns Table.

    The table returned would be filtered according to the current cross-filters applied.

    Uses would include the ability to have a column in a separate table that depends on the values selected in a cross-filtered table.

    I personally would use it to create a single row table with a column that returns a single SVG that is based on…

  2. Automatically create custom Date tables for all Date fields

    Similar to how a hidden date table is created for every date field in the model by default, there should be ability to define a custom date table that automatically gets associated with all date fields in the model. This will allow model developers to be more productive when there are multiple date fields in the model.

  3. Rename applied steps before steps are created

    Could we please have an applied step renaming box appear when someone creates an applied step that will allow them to rename the step before the step is created? The “default” name that Power Query normally assigns would appear in this box by default.
    It is good practice to rename applied steps after creating them (especially with more complex queries), and this process would be much less cumbersome if the user was automatically prompted to change the step name prior to the step being created.

  4. Incremental data refresh from a stored procedure

    Incremental refresh works good when refreshing data from tables. We have to deal with complex logic and predefined structure which is not possible from tables. Incremental refresh from stored procedure will be very helpful.

  5. Conditional Formatting of Text

    If Microsoft is NOT going to give the customers the ability to conditionally format text (with or without DAX), then at LEAST add the ability to keep the text formatting (text color and font effects like bold and italic) when initially "getting" the data and then upon subsequent refreshes.

  6. Encapsulation, code reuse

    We aren't in 1970 anymore. We need code reuse and logic encapsulation.

    Suppose I have a lot of Data sources and I want to use it on a lot of report with the same kind of manpulation in M or in Dax.

    In M I use a lot of date manipulation in DAX and we often recreate the same calculation in DAX.

    I shouln't have to rewrite function / code from pbix to pbix

    How about custom library, outside fucntion call (in any other language) and so on!

  7. Export Data From Visualisations as they appear in PowerBI

    It would be good to be able to export data that appears in PowerBi visuals in Excel in the format as they are presented. Currently export will retreive the underlying data and not how it has been pivoted/presented within PowerBI.
    Benefit of this is that the investment in time to get it ini that format is not wasted (or needs more time to redo in excel) if that data is needed for other teams to use

  8. power query date diff function

    Add date diff function in power query similar to DAX version.

  10. join on multiple fields

    I would like support for joining tables on multiple fields i.e. as a composite primary key. Something similar would be useful for table relationships too.

    Currently I have to create a custom column that concatenates 2+ fields and match on that

  11. Add 'average' option to Manage Aggregations

    Would it be possible to add 'Average' to the list of options in the Summarization drop down on the manage aggregations dialog box?

  13. Incremental Refresh with Unique Key Column check

    Along with Date Time stamp, there needs to be option to select a Unique/primary Key column too. Else we are only appending data leading to duplication, not checking if a Key was already inserted in the past.

    More Explanation:
    Currently incremental refresh works for the data that was inserted based on DateTime stamp, lets say last 10 days. It does not take into consideration the Primary Key that might have been inserted in the past.
    Eg: Lets say a "Sales Order" was created 3 months ago with a Status "Open", but only today its "Status" was changed from "Open" to…

  14. combine settings of multidimensional model in one page

    One of the options in the multidimensional model (see theory) is to indicate a dimension is an ordinal.
    The settings for the behaviours of an ordinal dimension are now scattered all over te place.
    * Modelling - Default summaration = Don't Summarize
    * Graph - Sort by = Ascending
    * Graph - X-axis = Categorical
    * Query editor = Change data type to text (as alternative)
    * Separate table = Sort order by values of other column
    .

    In a separate 'Multidimensional modeling page' the dimension could just be indicated to be 'ordinal' and all the above settings should be…

  15. Button to remove spaces between text

    Add a button to remove spaces between text in a column while Query editor. We have Trim but this only removes leading and lagging spaces.

  16. Apply Active/Inactive Relationships at the Report, Page, or Visual Level

    Managing models which contain multiple relationships between tables can be troublesome.

    An example model may be:
    FactInvoice[Delivery Date] -> DimDate[Date]
    FactInvoice[Purchase Date] -> DimDate[Date]

    There are two solutions in situation: (a) implement role-playing dimensions; or (b) leverage USERELATIONSHIP() at the measure level.

    As a Report Developer, I cannot setup option (a). However, using live connection, I can implement option (b) which results in a bloated the model containing many measures.

    This Power BI idea proposes the following happy medium: allow Report Developers, using Power BI Desktop, to define which relationships are active or inactive at the…

  18. (bug) CALENDARAUTO() appears broken?

    Hello,
    When you use CALENDARAUTO() you have the option to supply your financial year end month, so CALENDARAUTO(3) for march.

    However when a date hierarchy is created on your date table the quarters are still based on the jan-dec values.

    Clearly, if I set my financial beginning of the year as April, then April-May-June are the first quarter, not Jan-Feb-March as the auto date hierarchy creates it.
