  1. Excel FREQUENCY() vs. PowerBi Group / Bin

I see a difference in the results from the Excel FREQUENCY() function vs. PowerBI's Group/Binning feature. Anyway to make it behave like FREQUENCY()?

  2. Move the Formula Language ("M") documentation to docs.microsoft.com

https://docs.microsoft.com is the new modern documentation website for Microsoft. The existing MSDN documentation at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt211003.aspx is helpful but could benefit from being standardized.

At docs.microsoft.com it's easy to suggest edits if you see something is wrong or have new examples.

  3. Add/Access Calculated Columns created in Data View in Query Editor

I am requesting that calculated columns created in the data view automatically be added to the query editor.

  4. Fix nomenclature of folders and attributes when loading Power BI SSAS Tabular data

We have the need to load data into Power BI from an SSAS Tabular model in order to capture existing calculations in the model and provide the ability to experiment with new calculations and/or relate cube data (including calculations) to data from an outside source. However- when loading data- If we want each entity to be represented in it's own folder (as we see when connecting live) we found we need to select each entity in the cube using a separate 'Get Data'/ Query. When doing so, the default name of each folder is the CubeName (or CubeName1, CubeName2...) and…

  6. Sort Conditional Column by Order of Conditions

I created an "Ad Hoc Aging" column (for WIP and AR) with custom ranges: 0-30, 31-60, 61-90, 91-120, > 120. I filled the column with TEXT: Excellent, Good, Fair, Needs Attention, and Alert. Power BI automatically sorts alphabetically. I need it to sort by the order of the conditions.

  7. Invoke Custom Function - Required Functionality

The newly introduced Invoke Custom Functions does not support calculations.

When calling a Power Query implementation of the Excel PMT Function I need to pass a computation e.g. [Term] * 12 as a parameter.

    fnPMT([Bank Loan], [#"Interest %"], 12, [Term] * 12 )

The new UI only supports Decimal Number OR Column Name ... what is required is a combination of the two.

It is now necessary to invoke the Advanced Editor in order to make the necessary adjustment.

  8. "Merge Steps" functionality in Power Query

I’m often handed scripts that unnecessarily repeat items like "Changed Type", "Reordered Columns", "Renamed Columns" etc...

It would be great if I could highlight these duplicated steps (Ctrl + left click) and then right click and Merge.

  9. Add an "or" function to conditional columns

Currently if one is creating a conditional column and they want multiple values to have the same output you have to make many rows in order to give that output for the new column. If there is an added "or" function then all someone would have to do is click or and it would make it much easier and a lot less tedious to have many different values have the same output. This would be especially helpful when forced to use the equal operator or does not equal operator.

  11. Oracle - using tables or sql-statements?

I'm testing and trying to figure out if I should load the Oracle database tables I need or create sql-statements. I assume, but have little experience that PBI is Limited compared to sql. Any strategical advise?
For instance, can you solve this in PBI:

    select c.*,a.* from customer c, address a
    where c.id = a.id
    and a.loggdate = (select max(a1.loggdate) from address a1 where a1.id = a.id)

  12. Hotkeys in Syntax window

Currently Alt+Retun moves down to the next row. There should be an option to set CTRL+Retun as the execute key as syntax is often formatted by bringing text to the next line.
    Using Retun as the execute key causes every change in your code to exectue. Correct functionality should be:CTRL+Return = Execute; Return = New Line;
There should be an options tab to customize this.

  13. Allow Power Query Expression in Filter Dialog Box

When creating a filter you are not able to enter a Power Query Expression. For example if I am filtering on dates and I want to filter dates greater than or equal to (>=) I cannot enter the expression DateTime.LocalNow() in the filter dialog box. I either have to choose a date from the calendar and then go into the Advanced editor properties of the query and remove the value and enter the expression or write out the entire query in the advanced editor which doesn't make sense for simple filtering scenarios like this.

Please allow expressions to be entered…

  14. Bring it to Visual Studio and Roslyn

Make Roslyn understand Power Query (informally known as "M") Formula language.
Use visual studio as an editor.
Get intellisense, refactoring and all other obvious stuff that you need when writing code to work.

Make it possible to create a Power Query (informally known as "M") Formula project in visual studio, and then compile/package it in a way so it can be used and reused wherever needed.

Make it possible to write some kind of libraries that you can reference to extend the standard functionality.

  15. Ability to convert yyyymmdd Text to Date Values

Would be realy cool if I can have the ability to automaticaly convert Text in a yyyymmdd form to Date Values.

At the Moment, I have to prepare a Text Column "zeitwert_aussprache" with values like 20160530 first with a custom column and a formula like

    Text.End([zeitwert_aussprache],2)&"."&Text.Range([zeitwert_aussprache],4,2)&"."&Text.Start([zeitwert_aussprache],4)

before I can convert it to da date Values like 30.05.2016

  16. Bug in Table/View Sorting

When I try to sort a Table(right click on a column) in Table/View in power BI Desktop it is showing

A-Z as descending and Z-A as ascending.

Its wrong and you should correct it.

    Ascending is A-Z
    Descending is Z-A

  18. Formulación Básica

Hola!

  19. Use other Date Field to Filter This Date Field

I have a range of items that have a date attached to them. I also have a start and end date associated with these items. I would like to filter out any of the items that fall outside(either before or after) this date range, and use these two date fields as the criteria. I cannot currently find a way to do this within the Power BI menus. It would be great if I could just select these fields from the filter menu.

  20. Add/remove/update measures, datasources, and columns after publishing .pbix file to PowerBI cloud

I would like to add/remove/update measures, datasources, and columns after publishing the model to PBI cloud. I cannot easily re-upload the PBIX file because there were other reports created off of the dataset than exist in the .pbix file. Also, what if users created their own reports/dashboards based on the dataset. If you remove to upload a new one with the new calcs/measures then you will remove their personalized reports/dashboards.

This makes it a major hassle to go back and edit the data model of an already uploaded dataset. Allow me to enter PBI designer somehow through the cloud, or…
