  1. Power Query parameter to decide to refresh or not

I would love to have a formula in PQ that decides whether the query needs a full refresh or not. Currently, we can manually select if we want a query to be "included in report refresh". But let's say a huge flat file has not changed since the last refresh - then it's a waste of resource to do a full refresh until it changes. Thanks!

  2. Stop Executing Queries Multiple Times

I create a query in Power BI Desktop against a data source. Power BI Desktop insists on executing it multiple (usually three) times. This makes Desktop slow and for back-end data sources exerts additional load that can also incur additional costs.

Note: I am not talking about the scenario where a query is referred to multiple times in M, rather just a simple query loaded into one table in the data model. I assume the engine is checking data types, etc - but the current approach is very slow/painful. Optimisation is needed!

  3. calculated column

Provide the report writer the ability to add calculated columns through the Modeling tab in PBI Desktop, when the report writer has sourced a common data model (Get Data>Powerbi Datasets)

At current, although the report writer has build permissions to the common data model, they are not able to add a calculated column.

  4. Export Column Profiles as a Table

my customers love the new column profiling feature in Power Query. With the GA today, it is even better. One thing I have been asked for a few times now is the ability to export the column profile data as the result of a query. Ideally this could be exported to Excel for further investigation, or simply return it to ta table in Power BI for further investigation.

  5. Group/ Binning with Live Connection

Provide grouping and binning functionality against live data. In particularly against live data from SSAS Tabular data cubes.

  6. Tabular Model Both Single Grain (cross filter) vs Multiple Grain (M:1)best chosen based on User Query

Modeling Kimball conformed stars into one semantic model requires all facts to dimension joins be M:1. even the Junk/drill to detail dimension has to be M:1 from fact to dim. This works exactly as expected to support drill across. Single grain model for one data mart can support cross filter for everything so the use can choose attributes without any metric and is very user friendly. Could we model each data mart as single grain cross filter AND as part of the one larger semantic model and then at run time, PBI uses the single grain when only one measure…

  7. Table.TransformColumns - enable referencing of other columns

Please enable referencing of other columns in Table.TransformColumns.

Now when I want to edit values in existing column based on other columns, I have to do 4 steps, because I cannot reference other columns directly in Table.TransformColumns.

    1 - create conditional/custom column
2 - delete the original source column
3 - rename the new column
    4 - reorder columns

If I could reference other columns in Table.TransformColumns, only one step would be needed:

    1 - TransformColumns - condition directly here

    Please consider this request

  8. Power BI with Jupyter Notebook Interactivity

As a Data Analyst, I work a lot with Power BI in one part and Jupyter notebooks in the other part to explore datasets. Notebooks are perfect to explicitly show the different phases of analyzing data. Power BI is the perfect solution to create rich dynamic reports with top notch visuals.

What about a creating a Power BI connector for Jupyter notebooks. Or being able to attach a Jupyter notebook to Power Query to combine the best of both worlds. I know that there is a Python Script capability inside Edit Query, but we want much more :)

    Disclaimer: I…

  9. Replace long keys with an automatic numeric value.

The idea is to implement a function to replace long string keys with an index number, by automatically creating a reference table that has all the values with the key, asign a number to each key, and then replace the key with the new created number-key on every table that uses this key.

The steps to reproduce this in PowerBi are:
    a) Reference all the tables that has the LongTextKey. (Table1 and Table2)
    b) Remove all the other fields that are not the LongTextKey in the referenced tables (Table1Ref and Table2Ref)
    c) Append all this tables into one new table:…

  10. Add a setting to disable column profiling altogether

There is no way (as of Jun 2019) to fully disable column profiling. The problem is that complex queries can take a long time to execute and the column profiling header bar at the top of each column can take minute or hours of processing to show the color-coded green bar. All the while, it's eating up database resources and making PQ run slower.

  11. Conditional batch replace in single step

Wish to do multiple replaces in a single step similar to the conditional column step.

Wish to have multiple conditions here too

EG Value = 'D' where value in Column 2 starts with 'X' and value in Column 3 is 123

  13. export data from one Power bi data set to other

set an automatic data export to an excel file located in One Drive. this could help in using the data used by different power bi models as currently we cannot modify / create tables in models where we are using data source = Power Bi dataset or Power Bi dataflows.

  14. Edit Data Table From Relationship View window

In the current relationship view window we can delete a data table from the model.

It would be nice to right click on the data table and click edit query for the underlying table. This would immediately open up the query editor for data table changes.

Today you have to switch views to the table view, and click edit table. or navigate to the edit queries button and click edit queries. Doing this opens the queries, but you still have to navigate to the table you want to change.

  15. Add column - Index column, i.e. Table.AddIndexColumn, shall create whole numbers (int) instead of decimal numbers (float)

Currently the Table.AddIndexColumn() functions creates values of type decimal (floats). I see no reason for creating decimal numbers since the incremental steps can't be set to decimal number, nor the initial value can be set to a decimal value:

Table.AddIndexColumn(table as table, newColumnName as text, optional initialValue as nullable number, optional increment as nullable number) as table

The documentation does not say what type the new column will have, but now it's created as decimal number.

The recommendation will be that Microsoft either changes the type of the generated column, or extends the parameter set with a type so we…

  16. Skip bad rows at Load stage

Recently we came with an issue related to wrong formats in data, at Load time if you have bad data you will have an exception and information wont load.
We need a feature who allows you to skip bad data when you load the information and the option to see rejected records.

  17. Function to calculate working / business days between 2 dates

Can we have a function similar to Networkdays in excel to determine the net working days between 2 dates. for the list of holiday which will be optional, we can enable it via list or separate table.

  18. Option to Disable and Define Calculated Columns and Table Execution Order

When complex calculated columns or tables are added to the report of a large dataset, the execution order matters especially when refresh the report with new data range. It leads to not enough memory issue when the Power BI refreshes the queries and the dax calculated columns or tables at the same time.

  19. Unit conversion in Power Query

I want to be able to convert units of measurement from one form to another.
For example: convert kilometers to miles, kilograms to pounds etc.
