How can we improve Power BI?

When will the KPI Red/Yellow/Green Indicators be available on PowerBI Desktop?

KPI Red/Yellow/Green Indicators were available in Power Pivot. With the new Power BI Desktop this feature is not available anymore. If you import from PP to the Desktop it converts the RYG Indicator Dots to a number. Will the Red/Yellow/Green Indicators be added back to PowerBI Desktop? If so When?

Hi everyone! To give you an update here, we’ve begun work on this feature!

The first step will be bringing icon sets as a conditional formatting option. You’ll be able to set rules and icons, very similar to what you can do in Excel today. We want to get this out to you quickly, so it’ll be available in table and matrix visuals only to begin with.

Based on the comments on this thread, we’re focusing on the indicators first and looking for feedback on how soon after we need to follow with model-based KPIs. Please keep letting us know in the comments if you need model support for this too!

Thanks for your patience and for engaging and voting!

Re: "Power KPI" visual as a potential replacement: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/power-bi-visuals/WA104381083
Because it seems I cannot add feedback there, will share it here.

"Power KPI" is a good start.
Still, it does need improvement. Especially, managing KPI Thresholds.

It is true that the current version (1.2.1.0) allows quite capable control over KPI Thresholds.

However, it is rather cumbersome and inflexible as it requires creating dedicated Variance and KPI Index measures for each KPI measure you need to use and essentially hard-code the threshold percentages (esp. from end user perspective).

Since there can easily be dozens and even hundreds of KPIs required within the enterprise, it would be very helpful if there would be more automated control over KPI thresholds, their percentages and interpretation (higher is better, lower is better, closer is better).

Like in this custom visual: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/power-bi-visuals/WA104380832?tab=Overview
    See explanations in <http://www.fredrikhedenstrom.com/2016/02/20/kpi-indicator-custom-visual-for-power-bi-explained/>
Unfortunately, that one does not look too great visually, to be honest, and cannot be adjusted to the similar necessary degree as this "Power KPI".

Upvote. need KPI icon sets (like those in Excel) in Power BI conditional formatting options. Doing the whole Power Pivot in to Power BI is too complicated.

Add my vote for conditional formatting of text, date and Boolean fields and columns without necessarily having to create calculated columns. This is essential.

Icon sets would be a nice to have as well.

Indicators in Table or Matrix visualizations are a much needed feature in our business friendly Power BI reports. Please add this feature as soon as possible!

Conditional formatting on text values would be necessary to have. Thanks!

Conditional formatting of date / time is a must. Easily identifying if an important milestone has passed is critical to visual reports / dashboards

I get requests for this weekly! Please add this function as some are still wanting their old excel reports that have these RYG indicators. We have to have availability for a margin indicator in tables with project lists that is conditional on Margin % ranges. For example if the margin is under 10% red, 11-20% Yellow, greater than 20% Green.
