PowerBI reports and dashboard on-premise hosting
As per available documentation, power bi reports and dashboards will be published to microsoft cloud. It is very awesome approach as it saves all overhead of maintaining infrastructure. But there are case where on-premise hosting is required, Can we configure on-premise server to host power bi reports just like SSRS reports?
With Power BI Report Server now generally available (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/report-server/), we’re marking this idea completed. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for participating in this community over the past few months and taking time out of your busy days to try the previews and share your feedback; I can’t overemphasize how much we appreciate it and how much it contributes to the product.
In case you missed it, check out our recent blog post, “A closer look at Power BI Report Server” (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlrsteamblog/2017/05/17/a-closer-look-at-power-bi-report-server/).
While the June 2017 release supports Power BI reports that connect “live” to Analysis Services, we’re hard at work on integrating the Power Query/M-language and Analysis Services/DAX engines to unlock direct connectivity to the other Power BI Desktop data sources, targeted for later this (calendar) year.
We’ve now created a “Report Server” category for your ideas. Have an idea for a feature you’d like to see in a future release of Power BI Report Server? Submit it here: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/category/207604-report-server.

The use of SSRS 2016 to publish Power BI report in an On-Premise environment is a good idea especially that it is now poissble to create Mobile Report and KPI directly in SSRS. The bad new is that you need the Enterprise Edition to be able to create Mobile report and KPI. I hope this will not be the case to save and view Power BI report in SSRS.
Could you explain why the Mobile Report and KPI features are only available in the SQL 2016 Enterprise Edition only ?
Instead of publishing reports and dashboards to Microsoft cloud, can we published it into own own private cloud?
Any links to the ignite video where they promise this ?

With MS working actively on this then only piece that still bothering me is potential refresh rate (which with current PowerBI licensing is awful to say the least)

Any updates on this development ? Please.

An update would be helpful as well as a preview of the possibilities. Thanks.

Any recent updates for this?

Please have this available soon!
Appreciate it is in Dev now. We have just turned down a further Power BI project because we cannot provide an on-prem offering, that department had the largest budget in the comapny.
I'm looking for an update on this.. This is the single full-stop issue preventing adoption.

Is there any update on the status of this?

Can you please update on the status of this. Our client is looking for some PoC around it and test it against other reporting tools. If you have any dates we can update the same with our client.
@Charles Yes. I am working quite a lot with Pyarmid Analytics.

Looking forward to having this on prem... like it or not a lot of Enterprise organisations will not use cloud yet... they may get to it in time but in the mean time they are jumping to other vendors to solve this problem. Having it on-prem will be a great stepping stone to eventually landing in the public cloud. Fingers crossed for the end of this year.
Has anyone tried Pyramid Analytics server ? Apparently, is possible to publish PowerBi Desktop reports on premise with Pyramid Analytics.

We already use SQL Server and SSRS and really want to go with Power BI as a dashboarding solution, but without the functionality of publishing Power BI to SSRS on premises we will be forced to buy the solution from another vendor.
This is the biggest undoing of power Bi. On premise needed asap.
