PowerBI reports and dashboard on-premise hosting
As per available documentation, power bi reports and dashboards will be published to microsoft cloud. It is very awesome approach as it saves all overhead of maintaining infrastructure. But there are case where on-premise hosting is required, Can we configure on-premise server to host power bi reports just like SSRS reports?

Hi everyone,
With Power BI Report Server now generally available (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/report-server/), we’re marking this idea completed. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for participating in this community over the past few months and taking time out of your busy days to try the previews and share your feedback; I can’t overemphasize how much we appreciate it and how much it contributes to the product.
In case you missed it, check out our recent blog post, “A closer look at Power BI Report Server” (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlrsteamblog/2017/05/17/a-closer-look-at-power-bi-report-server/).
While the June 2017 release supports Power BI reports that connect “live” to Analysis Services, we’re hard at work on integrating the Power Query/M-language and Analysis Services/DAX engines to unlock direct connectivity to the other Power BI Desktop data sources, targeted for later this (calendar) year.
We’ve now created a “Report Server” category for your ideas. Have an idea for a feature you’d like to see in a future release of Power BI Report Server? Submit it here: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/category/207604-report-server.
Thanks!

I agree with Christian. We may lack the vision to see it, but although On-Premise is currently the majority of cases, usually imposed only by obsolete laws and some specific business scenarios, it will be dead in some years. First movers will reap benefits and gain huge competitive advantages, and soon others will have to adapt and follow to stay competitive in the market.
It's waste of time and resources to spend time developing something for OnPrem...
Users who really need onprem, can use existing technologies until they are ready - or forced - to adapt.

What about pyramid analytics on-premise option? It's in the most recent iteration of the application but there's no mention of it in the article you've posted? We're in the midst of product selection, and power BI appears to have a bright future... but without an on premise option we're unable to consider it as an option... M$ seems to be missing a huge opportunity to capitalize here..

Are there any timeline on premise solution since this is planned?

Please don't make it SharePoint dependant!
What benefit would it bring? It would be great to have SP integration as an option, but it would be a barrier for many if it were mandatory. -

I want "Power BI Server" for on-premise dashboard, just like "Power BI Service".

I agree with David Laplante.. a 'small' SSRS version for PowerBI would be very nice.

Someone has already stated what I wanted to say. But I will reiterate it again.
As a government organisation, we are not allowed to upload sensitive data into Power BI cloud.
As a result, the only way we can overcome this matter is to somehow have Power BI hosted on our own servers.

Hello,
Could you please post a ballpark period when this would become available and what cost model you are considering for at least future planning purposes as many businesses do planning right about now for what new year technologies to put in place. Knowing the future offering would help considering and comparing between PowerBar or "other" options. This is a make or break when making proposals for the upcoming year. A sample Architecture visual would be nice as well. -

i could deploy right away if power bi could be published on premise. Our site will not support cloud deployment with financial data. Looking forward to seeing this enhancement.

I woul'd wellcome it if i have the same Publishing Option on SharePoint on premise like with the SharePoint Dashboarddesigner. Some companies can't take all there data in the cloud so it would be great to have that tool on premise for SharePoint.

it would be nice to o have on premise hosting managed by SSRS , the same way we can pin report to Power BI dashboards with the latest beta release .

So the plan is that power bi on premise hosting will managed by ssrs server 2016? Or will there also exist some sort of standalone power bi server?

#on-premise That´s great news!

That is really a good news (because Power View doesn’t have enough features). When you’re saying “on-prem SSRS servers” you’re including also integrated mode with Sharepoint?

Great solution but on-premise hosting is an absolute requirement
