Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Allow a user to set the default value for a slicer or tile-by value on a page/dashboard, so that when the Power View page is opened for the first time, the default value is selected.
eg. If the page has a slicer for Year or Month, allow the user to configure the most recent Year or Month to be selected by default.
We’re looking into this request, thanks for everyone’s votes and comments.
It looks like many of the requests will be addressed by the new ‘Sticky filters’ capability. Now when you log out of Power BI and come back to a report, the same items will be selected as when you left.
For those who’re looking to have a ‘last month’ selection, the relative date slicer might help.
Those with comments about currencies where having multiple selected makes the report meaningless – the report will load with whatever selection the author saved, so if you save it with one currency selected your users will see that by default.
If there are scenarios that these features don’t address, please let us know in your comments – if you are really specific it’ll help us build the feature to work just the way you want!
It is a MUST.

Set a value for the selection of a slicer is a must have, please consider to evaluate a measure returning a table that contains a single column with one or many rows

I would like to see the ability to set the start and end ranges of a date slicer to select from a formula or query so that (for example) the user, when accessing the report, will see the last complete month selected for them. TODAY() = 3/3/2017 Slicer range should default to 1st Feb 2017 to 28th Feb 2017.

Along the same line of thought, the functionality for certain options to always be selected and the filter to select additional items would be helpful. For instance, I want my companies' locations to always appear on a map, and a filter to select certain competitors. Eliminating the step to not have to select my company locations each time would be nice. It may be best for the default items not to appear in the filter.
This would also be useful to prevent SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR measures failing because a Month slicer was used before the Year slicer thus showing an error message due to non-contiguous date ranges. Ensuring that a single (and only one) value must always be selected on certain visualisations would be great.

Must have to open most of reports in a meaningfull way
This feature it's basic, when you are Analyzing metrics in daily basis, in mothly basis etc...
It's also very important when you work with large sets of data in direct query due to trying to minimize work load to the database
This feature is really key from a user prospective, please consider it for the next release !
A default setting and a return to default on all option would be fantastic. A key point with reports would be to show the most relevant view first without restricting the data.
Please add this feature. This is extremely important for most of our projects.
Currently there is no option to set the default value in a slicer prompt.
Ex: I want to show the current year/month as a default prompt on my report.
Please add feature to default a value for a slicer.Say my slicer should be always default to a north region. so every user see report with data sliced for north region, they can select other regions as per their needs but for every region default should be north region.

Please add this feature, it is sorely needed to deliver the responsive reports demanded by clients with non-standard fiscal calendars.

It would be a great addition because a dashboard with a boolean page filter like "thisweekYN" or "thisyearYN" cannot also have a filter on screen because they clash.
We need this feature bady, you can have filter in the query for today, this year, this month etc but that limits data on the dashboard and doesn't allow users to change filter to last month etc. Deafault date, month, year selection is key. also ability to create filters like today, yesterday, this month etc. Is it possible thru DAX, is there a workaround to do this until the feature is added. Any help is appreciated.
I would like to be able to set a default value for the date slicer, for example to have a default value of Today, Yesterday, This Month, This Year etc.
Really, really need the ability to specify a default value in a slicer. Makes reports such much more usable, reduces what the end user has to select, reduces the chances of people selecting the wrong value, reduces the load on the system (as generally only a small % of the data will be selected), removes one of the main pain-points that our users report. Finally, surely a default value is a no-brainer!
Can someone tell where to find this solution?
Please add this. This is an extremely important feature.
