Easier page management: thumbnail view
Currently, viewing pages within a report can only be done by navigating the narrow bar at the bottom of the screen. Clicking the left and right navigation button moves the bar a variable amount the user has no control over making it very difficult to consistently and precisely navigate from page to page. It is impossible to quickly jump to a specific page.
Moving pages is even more unwieldy. Since you can only move pages by dragging and dropping the bottom bar, and you can only move the bottom bar by clicking the left and right buttons, moving pages across the report can only be accomplished by moving the page as far as it can go without moving the bar, then moving the bar. Sometimes you have to drag, drop and move three or four times before you have the page where you want it. This is extremely slow and annoying.
On top of that, as you drag the page you want to move, the page your mouse is on top of is highlighted to indicate that letting go of the mouse will place the page here. This is practically useless, however, since it does not tell you whether the page will be dropped to the left or right of the highlighted page.
This can all be solved with an expandable thumbnail or outline view like in Powerpoint. This will allow users to quickly, easily, and precisely jump to the desired page, and make moving pages much faster and less frustrating.
