Store DAX formula in SQL Server
DAX rocks! But, it's uncontrolled.
Formulas differ across reports, leading to inconsistent results, and a maintenance headache.
Worse still, users lose confidence in the data when each report shows a different result.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could define DAX formulas once, and re-use them across reports? Like with SSAS, but without requiring SSAS.
Here's what we need - Store your DAX formulas in a database alongside your data. Add an EVALUATE function into Power BI, so that it can run the DAX dynamically, reading the formula from a column.
Users of the data can make their own DAX, or re-use what's already there. Simple! Vote #1.
