Increase the data export row limit (30,000 rows max) in Power BI Report Server
The capability to export raw data from Power BI is an important function for many users.
Presently, the export data limits are as follows and confirmed at the community link below.
- Power BI Service (cloud platform): 150,000 row maximum
- Power BI Report Server (on-premise platform): 30,000 row maximum
Please increase the export limit setting on Report Server to match that of Service. Better yet, increase them both to a much higher limit as requested by others in separate idea posts.

Hi all,
We’re actively reviewing this functionality to see if this limit could be lifted for Power BI Report Server. We’ll keep you up to date on our plans, and thanks for your feedback to date!
Chris

hi chris - this was under review all the way back in JUNE 2018... so I'm just wondering how long this is going to take to implement as I was proudly selling the capabilities of power bi to our business and this is like an egg in the face... the staff are transitioning from one bi platform to powerbi and due to data sensitivity we are not allowed in the cloud... has to be on-prem. I have 220,000,000+ records and whilst we are not wanting to export all I cant even get 000000.013% of the data to export... our staff are currently heavily reliant on excel, which i'm going to wean them off, but its going to take a long time (like how long before an office becomes paperless)... lifting this restriction will help us immensely - trev

A great and inexpensive way around this is to use canned Microsoft BI solutions from vendors like us, built on SSAS, for various enterprise applications. Have a look - https://northcraftanalytics.com - check out the YouTube channel for numerous examples.

make powerapp available on premise vs. cloud. We have a need to allow users to updating a column in the data while reviewing content in other columns in the data. I saw a way to do this with power app, but it is only available in the cloud. Need to do this on in house data. Cloud not an option for us. Thanks

Any updates on this? Thanks!

We are going to have to pull the plug on enterprise adoption of Power BI because of this! The ability to export large amounts of data is the single most important requirement for us. This is baffling to me.

For power bi report server, you must add a variable configuration in order to limit the data row export to csv file : so, each organization can limit the export csv.

It would be helpful to increase this limit to a good higher number if possible

Hello Chris, We had to change our data access methods and architecture because of this limitation. Any update on increasing the download limit?

would also vote on this idea
export limits must match the excel limits of 1000000 rows

Please work on this idea. Ad hoc requests require the raw data. Can't build a tab in reports for each request.

Very difficult to advocate for this product to support the "Enterprise" with this kind of limitation on export. With migrations to Windows 10 builds 1709 and 1803 of interest to DOD, this capability is perfect for tracking progress. However, when looking to take action on the results (which will certainly exceed 30K records) during the initial phases, it renders the capability short of supporting Enterprise requirements. PLEASE put your best engineers on this issue ASAP. PBIRS is too powerful and valuable not to.

We must be able to have the limits of Excel in the extraction, this is must for us since we have a lot more lines of what we are able to extract for the moment!
Please look in to this feature for the benefit of all of us! -

YESSS! This is so important it is a deal maker or breaker. What do you do with this massive fabulous tool when your reports aren't complete because it can't handle the download? Match the 2016 Excel limit.

Both report server and service and PBIX desktop should have much, much higher export limits, for both CSV and Excel. Currently... service (150K, csv/Excel); report server on prem-platform (30K); PBI Desktop (30k, csv)

We would like to share our reports on a wider basis and to maintain them on one central place, but we need to increase the download limit on the web-platform of the Power BI server.

I second the request to increase (or eliminate) the limit on the report server. Our business processes more than >30000 transactions at once; while there is a work around, it is disruptive and time consuming.
