How can we improve Power BI?

Increase the data export row limit (30,000 rows max) in Power BI Report Server

The capability to export raw data from Power BI is an important function for many users.

Presently, the export data limits are as follows and confirmed at the community link below.

- Power BI Service (cloud platform): 150,000 row maximum
- Power BI Report Server (on-premise platform): 30,000 row maximum

Please increase the export limit setting on Report Server to match that of Service. Better yet, increase them both to a much higher limit as requested by others in separate idea posts.

    Hi all,

We’re actively reviewing this functionality to see if this limit could be lifted for Power BI Report Server. We’ll keep you up to date on our plans, and thanks for your feedback to date!

Hi Chris, Any update on lifting the 30k limitation on Power BI Report Server. Earliest reply is of great help for us to decide on Power BI or Tableau.

        Hello all,

We are excited about what Microsoft is doing in the space of data visualization but it would be very beneficial to our customers to increase the export limitation to 150,000 rows. Can you please update us on the status of this item. How many votes do we need?

        Hi Chris,

Do you have any updates on removing the row restriction when exporting from PBI RS?

        Thanks,
        Liam

One more bump on this, first posted in January, Chris commented mid-year, it's now December...lifting these kids of limits really should be a priority.

PowreBI is very limiting in what it can do. Tableau on the other hand can export 1M rows vs PowerBI is limited to 30K rows. I don't get why Microsoft provides tools which are so half baked.

        Any update ?
All settings we put on previous version are now completely unuseful due to this limitation

        Hello,
are there any updates to this issue? We just had a PBI upgrade, and now have the 30k limit, which is causing many difficulties for us. This limit definitely needs to be removed. Thanks so much!

Hello, any news about this limitation?
As can be seen, as a table option, for example, the option of number of lines per page, limiting each page to 30 thousand lines, but for data export this limit has to increase.

        Hi Chris.
Are there any news about the increasing of the rows limitation? It would be better to introduce this improvement as soon as possible.
        Thank you for your answer.

What is the status of increasing the limit of the export feature of Power BI Report Server on premise to export?

      • Kevin commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

        I like this idea.

Perhaps as well (since there will likely be some limit no matter what that users can hit), prompt the user that their desired export is being truncated, when they go beyond the limit.

        Hi Chris, any further progress?
For geo spatial applications using custom visuals 30.000 is really limiting.

        Hello Chris,

this is very fine. So we are hopeful to enhance the data export in our Power BI - Reports for our users in the future.

        Thanks for your efforts!
