How can we improve Power BI?

scheduled export of a report to pdf

It would be nice if there is an option to have a scheduled export of a report to PDF. A nice to have feature would be to directly e-mail it to people so they are being notified of the latest report.

We recently announced the ability to schedule PDF attachments for Paginated Reports in Power BI (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/e-mail-subscriptions-for-paginated-reports-is-now-available/).
We’re planning to have this ability for Power BI reports as well, but it will take time to put that feature in place.

For folks asking about the ability to print/export the entire table of data to PDF or other format, we’ll be announcing shortly the ability to publish paginated reports using Power BI datasets, which would allow folks to create simple paginated report tables to use for this scenario, as it’s not currently possible to do this with Power BI reports natively at this time.

This is UTTER USELESS. This does exactly what print did. We could have gone to print and just used save as pdf. We were expecting to be able to print EVERTHING that is part of the report NOT JUST what is see on the screen. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED.

Hi Chris/ Power BI Team, Any idea when will we have the ability to send reports via e-mail attachment through subscriptions? Our customers are very excited to see this feature.

Good to hear this. Was waiting for this for a long time. When this feature will be available through REST API?

Guys all you have to go is make a node js app that will embed the report into chromium browser and print it as pdf, from there you can use any mailing client like sparkpost to distribute it. I did this and it works.

I agree that this is not especially useful. Any filter, slicer, etc. inputs applied by the user are cleared during .pdf creation. My user base just wants a way to export what's displayed on the screen.

Great news that this is released, but without respecting the applied filters it's not especially valuable...

How much more time it will take to add this feature into Power BI? I am really in need for this feature for many of my projects.

I hope the pdf-functionality allows to export full report including all pages with selected filters applied ?
And I hope it will be possible to attach the pdf to an e-mail subscription and schedule it.

This would be very helpful, and even more if you could export BOOKMARKS as a PDF, so that pages do not need to be repeated unnecessarily!

Nearly 3 years since this was started. Any update on the scheduled email bit? Really need this...
