Better Date Range filters
The timeline slicer (Custom Visualization) functions, but it is not a friendly tool. If I quickly want to select a "Start" and "End" date for a date range, it would be more helpful to have a popup calendar with an optional freeform text box for both the "Start" and "End" date ranges.

I’m very pleased to say we’ve shipped a much improved date slicer in the October release of PBI Desktop. More details are available here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-october-feature-summary/#reportView
Let us know what you think and please keep those suggestions coming!
thanks!

When something can be filtered by date, an option for “Today” would be very useful.

I couldn't agree more with the need for this. Many sites allow filtering by a to and from date (using a calendar that you just pick from). Quite frankly, the timeline slicer is clunky and not actually very usable. A date from and date to filter/slicer would work far better. Please Power BI team ... make this one happen!!!

I was surprised that this was not included. You can do it in Excel why not Power BI

There's been a call for a time slicer, and that's been incorporated into the PowerBI tool. This request for improvement is for a slider, or some kind of toggle that allows a viewer of the report to move back or forward by a specific time period (year/quarter/month/day) by clicking a button of moving a slider.

Instead of filtering using fixed dates also filtering on last x days/months/years. The reporting window will automatically adapt to the progression in time.

It would be great to have To and From date picker functionality as Out of Box as business reports may want to view sales info between to dates.
