Power BI Desktop Auto Update
I'm shocked that I'm required to download a new version of Power BI every time you roll out updates. It's 2015, push those updates via the web to my desktop app, how hard can that be?
At Ignite 2017 we announced that Power BI Desktop is now available through the Windows Store! You can get it from http://aka.ms/pbidesktopstore
We know that the majority of our users are already on Windows 10 so this should be a great way for you to keep up to date with Power BI Desktop automatically and without requiring admin permissions.
If you’re not planning to update to Windows 10, you can still get the .msi version in the same way we’ve made it available before. We can also evaluate making it available through Microsoft Update. You can vote for that here:
Auto update with most recent updates would be a very useful
Same. I'm not getting auto update from Microsoft Store.
How is this being flagged as completed? I've still got to go through Microsoft Store to get an update, which is admin restricted. 4 years after this apparently got the go ahead to be worked on?

Also, we are currently using the Microsoft Office 365 Suite. Thank you for considering this update request.

Hello - I am employed at a large university which blocks the Microsoft store on our domain due to security issues. Because of this, we need a solution that the actual program (Power BI) can automatically push out updates itself because the way things are, it requires admin privileges and is taxing our IT staff. And every update to every user must be done on a 1:1 individual basis. Isn't there any way that Power BI desktop could be auto-updated like other Microsoft Office suite products?
Our Win10 users don't have access to the Windows store. Is there an ETA for a solution?
I work in my companies IT department and regularly get customers frustrated that Power BI is not automatically updated and they have to keep submitting requests in our ITSM system for it to be done. It is 2019 and it has still not been done? Poor from Microsoft. Extremely poor.
PUSH THE UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY...OR ADD ICON TO THE HELP RIBBON. WHY ARE WE STILL VOTING ON THIS???
add it to sccm automatic deployment. It will very helpful to deploy software update via SCCM.
Please push the update automatically so users do not have to manually download new version every single time. This is not an unreasonable request.
In the software itself there is no way to know if the version I'm using is the latest version, I have to ask Google to ask Microsoft if there is a new version.
There is no notification in my December 2018 version that there is a new version available.
The February 2019 update is available and I can't get it in my computer. The PBI website redirects me to Windows Store and WS ask me if I want to launch the app.
There is no way to click on Help and follow a link where I can find the latest version.
Please Microsoft, solve it.
Auto update in a easy way is needed. Not every time one need to download and seek IT permission to enter admin password to update PowerBI Desktop

I remember when I was a little kid you could actually go to "Help" -> "About" in the toolbar at the top of a software and you could look for updates and download from there. Nowadays the technology is so advanced that I actually have to go and look for an update, download and install it myself.
This is great !

Chaps, any update on this?
We are using SCCM and the windows store is disabled in our Windows 10 environment.
When are we going to have Power BI available on Windows Update?
"If you’re not planning to update to Windows 10, you can still get the .msi version in the same way we’ve made it available before. "
What do you mean by this? Updating by installing the .exe file like before?
Can we auto push Power BI desktop Auto update using PowerShell script?
