Print option from Power BI Desktop
A print option for Power BI Desktop is required.
This will support design and development efforts by having a hard copy available for use in scenarios where online and real-time are not the best approach or even the most appropriate approach.
Hi all – thanks for all the feedback on this feature. To better understand your printing needs, we created a survey to collect your feedback on printing in Power BI.
Please share your feedback using this survey link: https://aka.ms/i1fqr3

How many years will you wait to create the most basic of functions? Just get it done already.

one of our clients that we have "SOLD" Power BI to as a dashboard solution does not allow any of the data related to their projects to be published to any external Cloud service. meanwhile, they are testing the use of the on premises solution recently introduced by MS so for now we can only use Power BI desktop. Folks who are using the tool have installed the desktop version on their machines and we use a simple shared drive to share the files being developed but when we need to get the dashboard to the client's execs. then we need to export to PDF or print which is not possible at this point. using screen shot software like snipping tools simply does not work.
To those saying we are not selling this product right to our users, we don't need to sell it - Microsoft does, to us. You are lucky if you do not have your users asking for this feature, because a lot of us do constantly. But just because you do not need a feature, doesn't mean that the request for it by others is wrong as you are implying. Once a certain generation retires, we may stop needing this feature. Until then, they are our bosses and end users and we should try to deliver content to them in a way they prefer if possible.
I work in mutliple African countries where internet is either very unreliable or not available. Paper reports are the only way for us.
Another use case for print function; I have several stakeholders where the internet connection is either very unstable or slow, if they're lucky. Some places simply just don't have an internet connection at all, showing them a piece of papers is the only option. Are we supposed to ignore their needs?

To those who wish to discount the idea of supporting a print function, I offer this use case. I support a farming operation scattered across the several states. During the growing season, the operations team ("farmers, agronomists, and scouts") meet in remote locations to discuss crop conditions and what actions to take. The farm managers and agronomists appreciate the ability to print off charts/data so they can be passed out during those early AM meetings. Using tablet devices in fields is not practical (dust, dirt, damage, loss, hazard as foreign material in crop production) and smartphones, while widely available, typically do not offer large enough "screen real estate" and are troublesome to manage when attempting to filter/expand/change pages. And, sometimes internet availability and cell reception is a real issue.
Bottom line for me is that paper still has utility for many analytics customers. Paper's death has been reported several times but always over exaggerated.

Why in the world is this such a popular vote ? The possibilities are endless but you wan't to stick with the past and waste time and paper ? If you need printing on a paper options to do great work, you're doing it wrong. If you claim your customers need printing options to switch/use PBI then you're not selling the product right. I haven't printed a piece of paper for almost 2 years since I started to use PBI. I'm all for designing as well, still don't need the paper option.
Wish I could down vote this "IDEA" ... lol

so this is one of the top ideas for Power BI yet no response from the MS team!
Not having this in Desktop is a deal breaker.

Kim, why can't you guys give us a feedback on this request. All we need is a simple PDF export function like all desktop applications out there.
Sandy McCracken commented
Hello? Kim? Are you there? Haven't heard from you in a while.
Now using snagit to share reports by mail. A .PDF export function for pages is a must have functionality.
How the **** can this still be "UNDER REVIEW"???????????????????
No comment in 8 months. That must have been one underwhelming survey.
Wait, you cannot print from Power BI Desktop? What a joke!!!!!!!!
Is there an update on that? We have many customers who would like to change to Power BI but printing or exporting is a MUST have.
Until then our customers will not change to Power BI...
How is this not fixed yet. Desktop version should allow for printing in many ways!
Please merge this with the 70 other related requests so it will become the #1 requested feature (which it truly is).
How about a print option for Power BI service too? The "Print" functionality there now is a joke. It should be called "print a screenshot". Also, Power Point export is not a solution.
I know this is a hard one because of the way Power BI is designed (multiple viz per page, as opposed to Tableau which is one viz per page).
Power BI Desktop is a good software but the printing function from Desktop is really missing. For people who works in industry and are not expert of Business Intelligence, print for them papers is the only way to communicate. And because of this option missing, I can't share the software with them to use it.
