  1. Measure Management & DAX Editor

Anyone who uses PowerBI long enough has had a PBIX with 50-60 measures and it has become time consuming and tedious to mantain. In Excel you can do a quick find/replace to edit several formulas - in PowerBI you need to select each one individually. An "excel-like" interface for editing measures would save a lot of time! This would take PowerBI to the next level regarding productivity. I've prepared a mockup for this as well as a DAX Editor. Let me know what you think.

    • Totals in stacked column charts

During several presentations I get questions regarding the total of stacked columns. In the current situation you can select to label all the parts of the stacked column but no grand total. I would like to see the option to add a label to the Visuals which shows the total of the stacked column (this counts for values only). Ideally this total would deviate together with the drilldowns you select, so it stays interactive whatever filters you select or subsets you create on your dashboard.

      • Increase the data export row limit (30,000 rows max) in Power BI Report Server

The capability to export raw data from Power BI is an important function for many users.

Presently, the export data limits are as follows and confirmed at the community link below.

        - Power BI Service (cloud platform): 150,000 row maximum
        - Power BI Report Server (on-premise platform): 30,000 row maximum

Please increase the export limit setting on Report Server to match that of Service. Better yet, increase them both to a much higher limit as requested by others in separate idea posts.

        • Lock placement of tables in relationships pane

The ability to 'lock' where tables are manually placed on the relationships pane would be very helpful. We have created a data model with security tables, secured dimensions, unsecured dimensions, and secured fact tables. When I lay out the tables in a specific way, the design is far more understandable than when placement is auto-generated. A 'lock' type of functionality to 'freeze' the table layout would be very helpful because I can more easily locate/verify (a) specific types of tables, (b) bidirectional relationships where they should be (and shouldn't be), and (c) relationship directions are accurate.

          • Updates to Report Server should be available more frequently

It seems unfair that Power BI desktop is updated each month with new and improved visuals but we will have to wait several months longer to have these improvements in Power BI Report Server. For example the new matrix visual is big improvement but those with Report Server will have to wait about 6 months before it is available to them. I'd like Report Server updates in parallel to Desktop updates.

              Hi everyone!

Just sharing an updated status on this topic:

              - We plan to release Power BI Report Server roughly every 4 months.
              - We’ve just released the March 2018 update: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-report-server-update-march-2018/.
              - We support each release for 12 months, which gives customers up to a year to upgrade to a newer version while receiving any necessary security patches for the version they’re using. We performed extensive customer research and explored other options, including an 8-month support period, and customer feedback indicated that many enterprises needed 12 months of support to deploy Power BI Report Server.
              - (See here: powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/r..)

Some important context from our previous update:

Your feedback is completely valid. I appreciate why you’d expect and want monthly releases of Power BI Report Server, and I’d love the same! At the same time, I can shed light on the problem that’d create. One benefit of the cloud…

                • Shared data source connection (live to Tabular SSAS) for reports published on Power BI Report Server

Currently each Power BI report published to the Report Server has its own data source embedded within the report. Any change in the source would require us to change hundreds of published reports individually. Could we have a shared data source/connection similar to SSRS Reports that would help us manage deployment and changes much more efficiently.

                  • Power BI JavaScript API support for Report Server

At the moment to embed reports in a intranet webpage we only have the option to put ?rs:Embed=True at the end of the url.

I have read (on this website) that there are plans to extend this so parameters could also be passed in the url, in a similar way that the current SSRS works.

Could we also have the Power BI JavaScript API enabled for Power BI Report Server, in a similar way to the Azure service has ?

                    • Provide option to 'Publish to Report Server' instead of 'Save As' on Power BI Desktop for Report Server

While using PBI Desktop for PBIRS would be a lot better to have an option under the menu Publish rather on Save As in order to save a report to the Power BI Report Server.

At the moment there is a difference between PowerBI Desktop for Report Server and the "normal" PowerBI Desktop. I want to use the ShapeMaps, Visio Visual also. But this is not possible yet.

Mobile Reports have a sample preview of what the underlying report looks like. Users find this useful when looking for the report they need. Can this be done for the Power BI tiles?

                                • Power BI Report Server view Office Docs browser

In the August 2017 preview support was added to view Excel files in the browser with the addition of Office Online Server. Now that we have that ability why are we being limited to just Excel. I would like to be able to view Word, PowerPoint, etc. In the browser and not just have to download them. Thanks.

Thanks for submitting this idea, Dan!

We’d love to hear more about how people imagine they’d use this feature. What types of Word documents or PowerPoint presentations would you want to store in Power BI Report Server rather than in more general-purpose document storage (SharePoint, OneDrive, file share, etc.)? Comment below!

                                  • Add the ability to categorize reports with virtual categories beside the folder structure

Currently in the report server you are only allowed to group the reports based on folder structures, which we are using currently to manage also the permission needed to access the reports, but what we want as the we want to keep managing the permission based on folder structure but we want to view the reports based on different categorize and sub-categorize,

The reason for this is that you want to manage the permission of reports in a different way than organizing the reports.

we have like 700+ SSRS reports, and it is difficult to tie the permission structure with…

Great idea, and thanks for your helpful description of the scenario. Others, chime in with your votes and comments here.

                                    • Add Median & Percentile.EXC to the Aggregate Functions in Report Builder/SSRS

From the various blogs and websites I've read over the years being able to calculate a Median and Percentile in Report Builder has been a longstanding issue with attempts to do so through code resulting in glitchy results at best, particularly if you're trying to do so and have several different Row Groups and Column Groups. Couldn't Median and Percentile.EXC Aggregate Functions just be added to Reort Builder so it's a simple to calculate as it currently is to calculate the Average? It seems kind of silly that this hasn't been done after all these years.

                                      • Greater control over the scale and division of axes, especially values less than 1.

Greater control over the scale and division of axes. The MAJORITY of our data is frequency related where we have to display values in scientific notation from the range of 10-9 up to 10-2. Display of numbers greater than 1 creates automatic minor division on the y axis; but if below value of 1, the minor lines on the y axis do not display and there is no control over this. Same applied for x axis. Similar comments have been posted over greater control of the axes values and arrangement, but I have not seen one about small number values.
