We are not considering bringing Power BI Desktop to Mac anytime soon; however, we do plan to bring more and more authoring capabilities from Power BI Desktop into the web experience. In the meantime, consider running Power BI Desktop in an application like Parallels or Turbo.net.

    • Power BI Lite License

Power BI should have a Lite License for people that only consume dashboards or reports every now and then. This is for people that don't create reports but need to see the dashboards and may need to use the "report level" to be able to export output to PowerPoint (since you can't export the dashboard to PowerPoint but can only do it at Report level).

With the introduction of Power BI Premium earlier this year, there are now two licensing options for Power BI: Power BI Pro and Power BI Premium. This provides the flexibility to select the model that best meets the needs of individual users and entire organizations – whether that’s equipping users with access to self-service BI, broadening the reach of BI content for users occasionally viewing dashboards and reports, or elevating storage sizes, increasing refresh rates and introducing other performance capabilities based on workload requirements.

The right choice, Pro or Premium, depends on your particular situation. We’ve been listening to your questions on UserVoice, the community, and other forums about what option to choose, and have developed a FAQ on our blog that answers the most common questions. Check it out at https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-pro-power-bi-premium-flexibility-to-choose-the-licensing-best-for-you-and-your-organization/.

            • Disable share buttons

Option to disable the share buttons (Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and share itself) in the embed code. I am using the embed code to post the report in a sharepoint page with in the company by this would prevent a public sharing.

Thanks for taking the time to vote and share your feedback on our product.
However, it seems that you are not using the solution that fit your needs.
The ‘Share’ buttons only exists in ‘Publish to Web’ product, which is meant only for public and open content sharing.

In order to embed content into SharePoint, while keeping data secured and manage user permissions,
Please use the ‘Power BI Embedded’ product.

See this article on how to embed content to SharePoint Online using Power BI Embedded-

Thanks for your feedback – we’re not currently planning to bring R visuals in Power BI reports to Power BI Report Server.

As mentioned in the comments, a workaround to consider is several public blog posts that discuss how you can potentially use R visuals in paginated reports in the product.

Thanks for your feedback – at this time, we’re not planning to add this capability to Power BI Report Server. We understand this will be disappointing to many of you who’ve voted and provided feedback, and this wasn’t a decision made lightly. And of course, you’ll continue to see investments in these capabilities in the Power BI service going forward.

                  • Share a Pro dashboard with a standard user

Right now, If I use PowerBI desktop to create a dataset, report and dashboard. I am not able to share it with a standard user. This effectively means that we have to either licence everyone as a pro (very expensive for 4k people), or not use the pro features at all (which isn't what we want).

Pro users should be able to build and schedule the PowerBI, and then be able to share with any company user using AD security groups.
Without these options the tool may not be a viable option...

                      • NoSql Data Source

Provided the fact that NoSQL Database is emerging, it would be good to add NoSQL database such as MongoDB,Cassandra etc. as a data source in Power BI Excel mode as well as in Power View Dashboard.

                              Hi all,

Thank you all for providing this feedback and voting on this idea. As mentioned in other forums, including at last year’s Ignite conference, Q&A isn’t a feature we plan to bring to the on-prem server product. However, you’ll continue to see updates and enhancements to this functionality in PowerBI.com.

                            • Add a view-only and external licensing tier

Power BI is a great tool for those that need to analyze data, but not all users are equal in their knowledge of PowerPivot, Excel or the underlying data sources. Some users just want to see and act on data. In the current model, users have to have a PowerBI license to even see a report.

So, instead of building or buying a separate visualization layer to go over SSAS or SSRS, why not make PowerView extensible? Give me a very economical or even free limited user tier that can only consume web reports, but no Excel access. You can…

                              • Remove 2000 row limit for Salesforce Power Queries and allow passing of parameters to Salesforce

In Power Query in Excel and in the Designer, the current implementation of "From Salesforce Report" is useless due to the Salesforce 2000 row limitation. Please push them to raise that. And please figure out how internally inside Power Query you can retrieve the first 2000 rows, then the next 2000 rows, etc. to get all the rows.

Also please allow us to push filters to Salesforce so that the 2000 rows that are returned are from the date range we want. Allowing us to pass filters would let us iterate over a date table and run the report once…

Thanks everyone for your feedback – as much as we would love to remove this limitation, it is not a Power Query connector limitation but a general Salesforce Reports API restriction. Please make sure to share this feedback with Salesforce as this is fully in their control. In fact, once/if they remove this API limit, there wouldn’t be any product change required on the Power Query connector to pull the entire dataset, as there’s not any explicit limit defined on our side.

                                    • Make Apply changes faster in Power Bi Destktop with OData

As of writing of this post - PowerBI Desktop - apply changes becomes a extremely slow operation when a Odata query is used with a large dataset. Solution: Include a OData Query builder within desktop App so that by using filters minimum amount of data is retrieved. $FIlter can be used today also however it will be be useful if that is made as a step while using odata queries i.e. display user option to build $filter. My experience while using MS CRM Online with Odata feeds on a large dataset - it becomes very slow. This will also save…

                                      • Well stop asking for a company email.

Well stop asking for a company email. I want to test BI to see if it has value for my company before I tell them about it.

Won't allow me to enter a hotmail email address. Don't you know business use hotmail too?!?

                                        Uninstalled BI. Wasted my time.
