The PowerBI Designer is missing integration with the Data Catalog and there is no online search functionality. The data catalog is a core component of the reporting solution so let me use it with the Power BI Designer581 votes
Checking w/ the team where this is at.
As an IT administrator I need a way to see all content (datasets, reports, dashboards) that has been created and shared across the entire online tenant. This is needed to be able to support content after employees leave the organization as well as to support our SOX auditing practices.580 votes

Power BI designer should integrate Power Map design experience, don't let Power Map just like a stand-along part of Power BI...565 votes
We are looking to improve our maps. A new Shape Map control is expected in the summer which will solve some of these issues.
Grouping Fields into dimensions and measures will allow for quickly locating the fields and helps design reports faster, rather than searching the long list of fields.565 votes
Thanks Abhishek, this is a great idea! We’ll consider it for the future, please add your votes it you agree!
It would be great to be able to format full rows and not just specific columns in tables.
For example - I have a list of date driven tasks and would like to highlight the entire row where the task is overdue.563 votes
The export to PDF feature of Power BI Desktop is awesome. Could we have this PDF support option via the embedded API to generate PDFs into a network location? Say, an UNC path. This would be fantastic for bespoke applications!553 votes
I work in the Real Estate industry and receive requests to plot data points on map showing sales in which our company has participated. Everything went fine until I tried viewing all the data points and ended up with "Showing a Representative Sample". I would like the ability to show a minimum of 2500 data points552 votes
As drillthrough function we use a filter and we give value for it from other report page. I click back-button and it will take me back to where I was before. In the background filter value stays unchanged. I use drillthrough function again. Filter value changes and I see visuals filtered with that value. I use back-button again. I navigate to that report page manually and to my surprice value selected in prev step is still selected. I know that I can open my filter selections and clear selected value but I'd like to do is to start exploring my data without any preselected drillthrough filters. Filters in filter pane are a bit confusing to end-users and some of them cannot even find them.

It's hard to convince colleagues to use Power BI in case they using linux. With a Linux version (ubuntu?) of the Power BI Desktop they would not need to install a VM or similar.543 votes

The ability to display and create Filled Maps (choropleth) using the native SQL Server geometry/geography data types is a must to allow for meaningful geospatial visualization. e.g. Visualize crimes by police beat.534 votes
It would nice to have the option to duplicate an existing measure (include formatting) and copy/paste the format of a measure (like Format Painter).533 votes
Power BI Report Server should have an option to open the report in Full Screen mode just as it has an option in Power BI Service . When we open reports in Power BI Report Server , we can view page in 3 options 1:) Fit to Width , 2:) Fit to Page and 3:) Actual size . Issue with these three mode is the page and header consumes a lot of space and we need to scroll to view to full report .532 votes
It would be helpful to be able to print custom visualizations to PowerPoint. Currently there is just a message saying that the visualizations are not currently supported. Even allowing the visuals to be frozen in a picture format would be acceptable. Thanks.525 votes
We started the process of supporting custom visuals for Export to PowerPoint. you can expect some of the more popular custom visuals to be supported soon.
Note that power bi visuals form the marketplace that are power bi certified support this feature
Ability to share Dataset and connectivity to other users523 votes
Distributing datasets is possible in the PBI service today via the following steps:
1) As the sharer, go to the gear > “Create Content Pack” > add the dataset you’d like to share – optionally, you may also choose to add additional datasets, report, or dashboards
2) As the recipient, go to Get Data > “My Organization” and select the content pack created in step 1
3) Click on the “…” in the dataset that is added to your workspace, and click “Make a copy”
The recipient can then start creating reports based on the new dataset.
Does this meet your needs? Please let us know via comments or e-mail.
HubSpot as a pre-defined data source513 votes
The capability to export raw data from Power BI is an important function for many users.
Presently, the export data limits are as follows and confirmed at the community link below.
- Power BI Service (cloud platform): 150,000 row maximum
- Power BI Report Server (on-premise platform): 30,000 row maximum
Please increase the export limit setting on Report Server to match that of Service. Better yet, increase them both to a much higher limit as requested by others in separate idea posts.511 votes
We’re actively reviewing this functionality to see if this limit could be lifted for Power BI Report Server. We’ll keep you up to date on our plans, and thanks for your feedback to date!
Include an option to publish or show a "Full Screen" dashboard for Power BI Desktop, similar to a PowerPoint Slide.511 votes
