  1. Please add complex and nullable types support in Parameter dialog, and support Optional parameters

There is no way now to bring all the three features using Generate function feature of PQ.

  2. Measure sorting (schema view)

When building models, usually a large amount of measures created but many not used later. It would be good to map measures in a schema, i.e. clicking on a measure and it would show in the schema where it is used, so one can easily delete the unused ones and hand over a clean model.

  3. Apply Active/Inactive Relationships at the Report, Page, or Visual Level

Managing models which contain multiple relationships between tables can be troublesome.

    An example model may be:
    Fact_Invoice[Delivery Date] -> Dim_Date[Date]
    Fact_Invoice[Purchase Date] -> Dim_Date[Date]

There are two solutions in situation: (a) implement role-playing dimensions; or (b) leverage USERELATIONSHIP() at the measure level.

As a Report Developer, I cannot setup option (a). However, using live connection, I can implement option (b) which results in a bloated the model containing many measures.

This Power BI idea proposes the following happy medium: allow Report Developers, using Power BI Desktop, to define which relationships are active or inactive at the visual or report level.

  6. Power Query: Go To Error from Column Profile or Column Statistics

Currently in Power Query we can see if there is an error but we cannot see which value is the error. We need a way to click on either the Error field in Column Profile or the Error total to view all the errors so we can correct them.

Currently, if you highlight the word Error in the Column Profile it gives the option to remove errors. This would be a perfect spot to add a go to errors option.

  8. calculated column

Provide the report writer the ability to add calculated columns through the Modeling tab in PBI Desktop, when the report writer has sourced a common data model (Get Data>Powerbi Datasets)

At current, although the report writer has build permissions to the common data model, they are not able to add a calculated column.

  9. Simple things to improve support for timestamped data

I often work with timestamped IOT data where I want to plot the number of events per day (or per hour or per week etc). There are a number of frustrations with this....

    * The default behavior when using a DateTime field is to use the year/quarter/month/day hierarchy. I NEVER want to do this. Please let me turn off this behaviour.

    * Most charts don't have any way to bucket/aggregate data directly. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to introduce an "aggregration period" on a time-based axis? Since our timestamps are to the nearest millisecond, the lack of aggregation effectively…

  10. Column profiling stats should be based on total rows and not just the first 1000 in the Power Query Editor

Column profiling stats should be based on total rows and not just the first 1000 in the Power Query Editor, in case if the column has sorted data, the stats are completely unreliable.

Also, the status bar should display total row count and not 999+

  11. Data type in Power Query custom column

In the dialog box that appears when you create a custom column, there should be a drop-down box where we can select the desired data type of the new column. As-is, we have to add a second step specifying data type or manually in the formula bar/advanced editor type ", type text" or whatever; it would be far more convenient to be able to do that right within the dialog box.

  14. Grouping/Aliases

It would be great to have the ability to "group" data points and give them an alias. An example would be to group specific customers together to compare to one big customer.

This is available in Tableau and should be on Power BI!

  16. Add more detailed Power Query refresh icons

For all Power Query objects in the "Query Editor" window, add icons for "refreshing" and "error" states for each query object.

  17. Verbose "Power Query" editor execution status

Provide a panel in the "Query Editor" window that displays real-time verbose steps being taken by the Power Query M Engine so as to permit real-time debugging and performance tuning.

  18. Relationships

    Managing Relationships

Classification of relationships-allow categorizing the tables (fact or dimension).

In the Relationship Management environment make the option to categorize the tables by fact or dimension and include a tag indicating the color. Visually gets more facial to manipulate the relationship tables and creates a universal language so always We know when it's a fact table and dimension.

  20. Create efficient "development mode" for Query Editor query refreshes

As of August 2019, development of queries with large result sets is painfully slow. It appears this has been a problem for several years. Building power queries is on the critical path and a pre-requisite to data modeling. There also seem to be some defects related to the Power Query implementation in PBI Desktop. Anecdotally, sometimes by cancelling and restarting refreshes, or performing an overlay install of PBI can help queries once "frozen" during a refresh cycle magically return results instantly.

Ideas to remedy Power Query performance:

    1) Cache the entirety of "base" queries from which others are "referenced".
