Please provide the ability to connect to Analysis Services (Tabular) from Power BI Embedded124 votes
As of June 2017,
The Power BI service and Power BI Embedded came together to offer a single API for embedding your dashboards and reports.
This means you now have one API surface, a consistent set of capabilities and access to the latest Power BI features – such as dashboards, gateways and app workspaces – when embedding your content.
You can read more about it here- https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-developer-embedding/
For those who work with the Power BI Embedded Workspace Collection solution, we built a migration tool for easier data transition.
See more info here- https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-developer-migrate-tool/
Hi, Power BI allows us to create great insights supporting our daily jobs. While we can use the desktop version in my company, we have a security issue with publishing to Cloud. Data protection is heavily focused.
To avoid breaking any internal rules on data protection, we would definitely benefit from option where PowerBI mobile would allow users to open local files without having them pushed to Cloud via Publish function in PBI desktop.
Viewing local files works great with Word/Excel/PowerPoint on mobile.
Thanks for considering / reply
Power BI Report Server which was announced GA this month, enable users to use their iOS and Android Power BI mobile apps and connect to on premises servers to view Power BI reports, mobile reports and KPIs.
To have some kind of filter bookmarks so to "save" recurring searches or slicers slections (and avoiding repeating over and over select/unselect to surf in the data).179 votes
I’m marking this idea is complete. Between bookmarking, sync slicers, and the retain filters feature in the Power BI Service, we have lots of ways to save filters, reduce the need to repeat filtering, and remember filters for later. If there is a specific use case you have not covered by one of these features, please create a new idea for it.
Export a report directly in Excel (not only via csv file)1,142 votes
Exporting to Excel from Power BI is supported. You have two options for exporting your data to Excel:
- Once you publish to the Power BI service, you can export your data to Excel by clicking on the … button for any visual. See more info here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-export-data/
- You can use the Analyze in Excel feature to connect directly to your model in Excel: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-analyze-in-excel/
The timeline slicer (Custom Visualization) functions, but it is not a friendly tool. If I quickly want to select a "Start" and "End" date for a date range, it would be more helpful to have a popup calendar with an optional freeform text box for both the "Start" and "End" date ranges.1,007 votes
I’m very pleased to say we’ve shipped a much improved date slicer in the October release of PBI Desktop. More details are available here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-october-feature-summary/#reportView
Let us know what you think and please keep those suggestions coming!
there must be a way to disable share and annotate option on PBI mobile. the thumbnail may contain private information that once shared may become public. this is a security issue.9 votes
This is can be done using Intune app protection policy
When the title of a visual is too long relative to the visual size the title is cut off and replaced by 3 dots. This results in having to hover over the title or entering focus mode to see the full title.
I think the titles should have the option to wrap text, similar to the functionality that the card visual has.297 votes
I’m pleased to say we shipped this feature in the Feb 2019 update of Power BI Desktop! You’ll see an option to enable word wrap in the formatting pane for visuals. Thanks!
Currently File size to host on Power BI Report Server (on premise) is 100MB.
Please Increase the maximum file size to 2GB if possible.
1) I asked the question in the forum: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Report-Server/Power-BI-Report-Server-Excel-file-size-hosting-How-to-Increase/m-p/260648
2) For SharePoint 2013, we can do like ... https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/sammykailini/2013/11/06/how-to-increase-the-maximum-upload-size-in-sharepoint-2013/11 votes
Thanks for your feedback! With the Power BI Report Server update released earlier this week, we’ve enhanced the report server to support upload and storage of much larger files, increased the default file size limit to 1 GB, and allowed you to increase it further to 2 GB if you like.
Have independent controls to include and format data labels when using Line and Column Chart visualizations. This visualization is essential to have data analyses with different value ranges, which means it is likely to have different labeling needs for data expressed in columns than the one used to expressed in lines.598 votes
The original request was to format the line and columns separately, which you can do today through the customize series option.
Here’s a post detailing the feature:
I think you should be able to type whatever you want into the X and Y axis to make up the title for them.
This seems like a simple feature and works really well in Excel.
When I have multiple fields in a chart the axis is long and ugly, where a simple edit should be available to shorten this down.556 votes
This feature is now available in the April release of Power BI Desktop. Learn more here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-april-feature-summary/
I want to add image URL for image based on measure value but i am not able to change image address as image URL into measure.136 votes
We added this as part of our August Power BI Desktop release. You can read the details in our blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-august-2018-feature-summary/#dataCategory
The ability to configure a slicer to only be able to select one attribute at a time - similar to a radio button. I would like to disable the ability for people to either choose select all or choose multiple slicers.1,438 votes
Hi everyone! The slicer now supports a radio button mode too, with real single-select behaviour. You’ll see updated options in the property pane that let you control this. Thanks for your patience and feedback!
As has been partly implemented with Filters, it would be very useful to have slicers that could apply to all pages of a report. This would allow users to interact more easily.4,707 votes
The most exciting news so far this year! In the February release of Power BI Desktop we’ve shipped the ability to synchronize slicers on different pages in your report! You can read more about how the feature works here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-february-2018-feature-summary/#syncSlicers
Thanks again for everyone’s feedback and votes on this feature. We do listen to you so keep voting and let us know what other things you need us to prioritize.
The ‘Full Screen mode’ could become more useful for presenting reports on dedicated large screens if it became just a bit more dynamic. Whilst it is currently possible to scroll through report sheets by clicking the arrows in the bottom right corner, it would be most valuable to be able to automate such browsing. A solution could be to introduce a “Play” button that starts a slideshow scrolling through the available report sheets according to a customizable time interval.2,689 votes
This is now available in the Windows Power BI app! Check out the details here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/enhancing-presentation-mode-with-slideshow-in-windows-power-bi-app/
A print option for Power BI Desktop is required.
This will support design and development efforts by having a hard copy available for use in scenarios where online and real-time are not the best approach or even the most appropriate approach.4,331 votes
We are very excited to announce that printing of Power BI reports in PBI Desktop is now available through Export to PDF! You can read all about it in our announcement blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-august-2018-feature-summary/#print
The dashboard/report usage metrics can take >10s to load in certain cases. Please improve the performance of the report.
FYI: the documentation for the current feature can be found here:
Hey all – we have rolled out a batch of changes which should drastically improve performance on usage metrics reports. As such, I am resolving this idea. Head to our community forums to share your experience! https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Usage-Metrics-for-Dashboard-Report-Authors-Feedback/m-p/186387#M25294
The ability to provide specify the Data Colour for each item in the Legend field. E.g. a column from the data source in which to specify the colour e.g. #A66999 for each item in the Legend field.
This would apply to all the standard charts, e.g. bar, column, line chart, any of the charts with the Legend property.621 votes
Near the end of last year we upgrade visuals to use conditional formatting just like tables. This means you can take advantage of “By field” formatting to do exactly what this idea requested. Create a field in your model assigning colors, and then use the conditional formatting dialog for colors to format it.
Here’s the original announcement post. Do note that the UI has changed some in recent months, but the functionality is the same: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#conditionalFormatting
It seems as if only Text is available to select.
We require the Key to be available to build relationships and to view data150 votes
This feature was released in the Power BI Desktop October update. Please take a look at the official release announcement for more details: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-october-2017-feature-summary/#sapBW
At the moment I can't save a pbix on the server, if the server is configured with a custom authentication (form). Even if it would be possible the live connection to ssas would not work because there would be no AD User behind the authentication. Additionally it would be necessary to define the ssas connection with a different (fixed) user.14 votes
Thanks for your feedback. The June 2017 release of Power BI Report Server does work with custom authentication extensions (the May 2017 Preview didn’t). Although Power BI Desktop doesn’t support this authentication method, you can save your *.pbix file to local disk and then upload it to the Report Server web portal.
(On this topic, while we support SQL Server Reporting Services-based custom authentication/authorization extensions today, we hope to invest in OpenID Connect/OAuth in future as a more modern approach to extensible authentication/authorization.)
Ability to turn off tooltip and ability to remove the default tooltip (ie the columns used to create the visual).371 votes
As some people have already noted in the comments, we’ve actually shipped this feature already! It was included as part of our July update to Power BI Desktop. You can read all about it in our blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-july-2018-feature-summary/#tooltips
And of course, if you have any other feature suggestions, please make sure to vote on them.
