Often we need to expand on an idea from one report further and copy and paste visuals/pages from one PBIX to another. This would be a huge productivity and quality benefit.3,687 votes
We are excited to announce that this shipped in our November update of PBI Desktop: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#copyPaste
For those asking, it will be included in the next version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server as well.
We use Teradata for one of our Enterprise Data Warehouses. We would really like to have an On-Prem Teradata Connector available in Dataflows5 votes
We shipped Teradata support. You can read more here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-dataflows-january-updates/
Ability to use URL-Report filter in mobile in the same way as in the PowerBI Service.
-In PowerBI Service you can pass filters to another report via an URL using ODATA filters. Allow this also in the app11 votes
Currently you cannot open a Power BI app shared with external users in Power BI Mobile. You can open it though if you sign in through the web browser, however the mobile dashboard user experience on the web browser isn't nearly as good as in the mobile app.
Is there any authorization reason preventing the app to be shown in the mobile app but allowing the same user account to see it in the browser?6 votes
I have a report that requires more than one page in the mobile view. The problem is both pages should reflect the same filters. I do not expect users to select the same filters again and again; the filters should be selected on the first page and apply to all subsequent pages.
This idea was previously posted under the heading "Make filters that can apply across all pages in a report". However, it will not longer accept votes as it is marked as completed. Is an option available to apply page level filters from the report/dashboard to subsequent pages?205 votes
We are very happy to announce that filters are now available in phone reports.
You can read about phone reports filters here – https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/filters-coming-for-phone-reports-on-ios/
Even though it doesn’t meet the specific ask for a report level slicer, page level reports offer the same functionality in an easy and friendly way.
We hope you like this addition to the Power BI mobile apps and encourage you to experience it and provide us with feedbacks.
The "Publish to web" setting for portal administrators currently has the options of 'Enabled' or 'Disabled'. It would be beneficial to have this manageable in the same way as content packs so certain security (AAD) groups could be set as publishers.134 votes
Great news (and sorry for the late update). We added granular admin controls for Publish to web, so you can choose which of your users can create or are excluded from creating Publish to web embed codes. Just go to the Power BI Admin portal, expand Tenant Settings, expand Publish to web and you’ll see the options. Here’s the documentation: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-portal#tenant-settings
It would be great if we have Portrait view in Power BI App for Ipad and Android tablet. It will be very helpful to navigate the necessary information.6 votes
More flexible Conditional Formatting in Tables and matrixes.
The current color customization in tables is very limiting. I need more than 3 color choices.
I should be able to add multiple values and assign colors to each.412 votes
Since the creation of this idea back in 2016, we have added much more flexibility to conditional formatting.
Two particularly powerful updates include…
Format based on rules: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2017-feature-summary/#conditionalFormatting
Format based on another column: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#conditionalFormatting
Of course we will continue adding even more functionality to conditional formatting, but this idea now to generic to be useful. There are many specific conditional formatting ideas on this site, so please, if we are still missing something you need, vote on it so we can continue to add valuable updates for you!
A typical website nowadays is responsive, but Power BI reports are not. Embedding them in a website might lead to a bad user experience on mobile devices. Embedding reports using the phone layout (or a similar responsive layout) would be great for use cases where mobile devices are targeted from the website.19 votes
There should be a trial test for Power BI Premium. At least limited to only one workgroup, and only 1GB per dataset as it is for Power BI PRO. This way we can test its capacity and way to interact with Power BI Service and SQL Reporting Services (SSRS).31 votes
You can get a trial Power BI Premium.
But you must get the code from your account manager.
I would like to be able to format a column in a table or matrix based on values of a different measure, or based on values of the same measure in a different row of the table.
1. Conditional formatting of sales amount based on the value of sales amount last month(green if higher, red if lower etc.).
2. Conditional formatting of sales amount based on sales goal(higher/lower than goal, and how far from target)343 votes
Glad to report that we’ve now shipped this feature as part of our May update! https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#conditionalFormatting
Without control over spacing of columns and bars, data labels can overlap each other and aesthetically, the chart looks cramped.
Please add a configurable spacing parameter like the "gap width" in Excel charts to allow for better visual control.484 votes
Under the x-axis card in the formatting pane, you have several settings that can help with this.
Minimum category width lets you force the bars to be wider, enabling more readable data labels (but more scrolling).
Maximum size lets you increase the percentage of the visual the axis labels will take up, which can make the visual more readable if the labels are long.
And finally inner padding controls the gap between the bars in proportion to the bar size.
Using a combination of these features to enable to you make the labels on your visuals readable.
The bing map should have a button( +,-) on top of it for zooming capabilities.3 votes
We finished this feature as part of our March update! You can read about it here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-march-2019-feature-summary/#zoom
I have a large set of options from which I would like to pick some specific ones and use them in a slicer to filter my data.
Currently, this is not possible while it is an implemented feature for other chart types.
I'm currently using a 100% stacked column chart as a workaround.2,840 votes
I’m happy to say this is now complete! In the June 2019 release of Power BI Desktop you’ll see you can set visual level filters on slicers. There’s one known issue where applying a measure filter to a slicer in range mode causes the visual to show an error. We’ll release a fix in an interim update before the July release.
Thanks for your patience and your votes, everyone!
Ability to select/click a row on the table or chart and be able to contextually go to another report , with appropriate filters. This is only useful when we are able to hide the pages in the report and they appear only when something is(row or cell) selected on a table or similar chart.1,440 votes
I’m pleased to say that the September release of Power BI Desktop includes the capability to drill between report pages. More details in the blog post here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-september-2017-feature-summary/
There are a couple of related ideas that you can vote on if you’d find them useful:
Drill into an SSRS report:
Drill to a transaction details page:
Thanks for your support and votes!
The "Power BI Desktop" tool for Power BI Report Server looks pretty much the same as the standard "Power BI Desktop" tool.
Please rename it to something like "Power BI Desktop for Power BI Report Server".
Also, why not have an icon to represent it? Such as including a server symbol behind the Power BI icon?
I understand the need to have different tools due to the different release cycles therefore would be important to make the On-Premises version is more specific.29 votes
With the latest release of Power Bi Report Server, we’ve changed the icon colors for the Desktop version that ships with it to differentiate this from the version in the cloud service! Thanks for this great idea and we hope you like the latest release!
We now have a great Slicer for dates, which is presented as a Slider, but it would be great to have a similar Slider Slicer for values too.
eg, If I have a field called 'Customer Balance' and want to give the end user the ability to filter down between two values (Customer Balances between 1000 & 10000), then a standard Slicer is not suitable as it just lists the balances. A Slider based Slicer will fill this role.217 votes
This has been in preview for some time and is now generally available. You can add numeric fields to slicers and select a range of values. We don’t yet support measures (you would actually need to specify a measure and a category to slice on) but that’s something we’re considering – please create a new suggestion for that! One workaround is to create a summary table with the measure/category and slice on that.
Thanks for the votes everyone!
At this time, a gateway will not function properly if you are using data sources and one is online and one is on-prem. As soon as the online data source is added, the gateway is designed to gray out because Power BI interprets that it is no longer needed. I would like to be able to combine data sources from both on-prem and online sources together with the use of gateways.1,325 votes
Was finished a while back…marking as finished
Automated column profiling:
when data from any source is transformed into a table form, an automated profiling of the values in each column displayed in the form of a histogram just above each column header can give a really good insight about the data quality and further aid the analyst in guiding through the data preparation process.6 votes
We’re glad to let you know that this feature is now Generally Available. Please refer to the Power BI Desktop April release announcement for more details: powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-d..
Thanks for your feedback!
Allows the PBI Admin to control creating of workspaces and apps from Power BI. We have end users who do wonderful things on their own, but when they publish Apps we have no way to vet and "certify" that they are sharing good data. Would prefer to be able to control what gets published outside of the "my workspace" area. Don't care if they share with others, but doing a new workspace and especially an App needs to be admin approved. With 5,000 employees we can't have 5,000 apps all called "Payroll" or "timesheet tracking" or "overhead"...22 votes
