  1. Power Query: Make it easier to connect to files on OneDrive and SharePoint

Connecting to files stored on OneDrive and SharePoint is a difficult and confusing experience. While it is possible, it is far too difficult.

As more and more move to working in an online environment we need a simple way of connecting.

  2. Windows Authentication in Amazon Redshift connector

Currently Amazon Redshift connector comes with Database Authentication mechanism only. We would like to have Windows Authentication in it, like with other connectors. This helps in security of data and allowing SSO from Power BI Desktop.

  3. Enable Parallel Query Submission for Snowflake

Snowflake is super fast at running queries but PowerBI is slowing dashboards down by executing all the queries serially. Please prioritise work to fix this.

This following issue about direct queries processing sequentially is related: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Direct-queries-are-processing-sequentially/idc-p/847026/highlight/true#M50664

  4. Atscale Cubes connector in Direct Query

AtScale Cubes connector in Direct Query currently does not allow to change the data type in Power Query Editor and the connector gets the all data as text data type irrespective of data type in the source. Having the option to change the data type would be highly useful for this scenario.

  5. Analyze in Excel Date Columns - Convert Text -> Date

When connecting to Power BI datasets using Analyze in Excel, all date fields from models show up in pivot tables as text, which disables filtering or grouping for date groups.

It is possible to fix this or give us a workaround to set columns as date?

    Thanks!

  6. approve query

When refreshing data within Power BI desktop, the process will prompt for approval of each query.
There should be an option to approve all queries at once that are destined for the same dat asource and credentials have been supplied.

  7. Set different credentials in one connection string for cloud data source connection

I understand this is limitation of the cloud data sources that when connecting to the cloud data source, it is not possible to have multiple credentials for a single connection string.

But I would like to be able to register multiple credentials.

    // example

    1. Create schema 01, schema 02 in Azure SQL Database 'Database 1', set the users that can be referenced respectively, and separate the data that can be referenced by this schema.

    2. Create reports 01 and 02 connected to Azure SQL Database 'Database A' in Power BI Desktop using each schema and publish them to the Power BI…

  8. Tracking shared dataset with Rest API

Ability to track a shared dataset using Rest API.
Although it can be tracked in another way (below article), Rest API would be convenient.

    Track your dataset usage

  9. Allow for connections to multiple data sources when using Power BI shared dataset

Currently there is a limitation when using the newly released "Shared Datasets" feature that restricts you to only that source.

We would like the ability to use multiple different sources, Excel, SQL, etc... when using a shared dataset.

  10. Desktop users Connect to Data Source via gateway

As System Admin I create Data Sources on Data Gateway and grant users access to use them. Users should be able to user them via Power BI Desktop. Currently there is option to connect to Datasets that are already published but it would be better to allow the users to connect using the data gateway as a Proxy so end users don't have to have creds to connect to data sources. This would also help with connection binding before report is published and more control over creds being shared and reducing number of named users with direct access to source…

  11. Proxy value for Snowflake Connector

Within Power Bi Desktop Snowflake connector give users the option to enter proxy information in order to connect to the Native Connector. This option is available in ODBC and is sometimes needed in order to make the connection to Snowflake.

  12. Power BI direct connector to ADLS2 (Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2) thus Power BI directly connect to ADLS2 for reporting and Firewall slider

currently Power BI does not have direct connection to ADLS2 and requires Power BI Dataflow to access the ADLS2 data which causing data redundancy and creating extra hop for the same data and can be directly consume form ADLS2. Power BI direct connection with ADLS2 is great addition for Advance Data Analytics and firewall slider Power BI which enable exclusive access Power BI similar to AAS (Azure Analysis Service) .

  13. We need the ability to easily grab stock portfolio data

We need an easy and intuitive way to pull stock portfolio data from sites like Bloomberg and investing.com. Pulling from portfolios that are created on said sites. Data such as dividends stock price amount owned and dates. I'm sure something like this is possible but it needs to be easier. Power BI can provide tremendous value to investors if it is easier to sync the data and have it auto update. It's a big market that Power BI can dominate

  14. Auto Binding of Dataset to Data Source for ODBC Connections

Auto Binding of Dataset to Data Source in Data Gateway for ODBC Connections when driver, connection string match and user has permission to connect to data source. This works for other drivers just not with ODBC.

  16. Allow XMLA access to Pro content

Now only premium, would allow power bi to drive star schema/dimensional modeling concepts to Tableau users.

  17. Increase scheduled refresh frequency to 24 times per day in Pro License

Allow to schedule refresh at least 24 times per day in power BI. Currently it is 8 times per day only. it will help end user to analyze important data more frequently every day. We have seen many customer who needs data on hourly basis.

  18. Show PowerBI dataset description to users in PowerBI Desktop

PowerBI Shared and Certified datasets concept has been a game changer. While a model author can add a description for a dataset as part of the "Endorsement" option, users who connect to such datasets from PowerBI Desktop don't see this info when connecting using the PowerBI data set option currently. Unless users have access to the workspace where the dataset is published, any description added there isn't shared with other users.

Showing the description added by the model author when hovering over the dataset name would help users understand the intent of a dataset before they connect to it. (Currently…

  19. Add support for Role in Snowflake Connector

Currently, the Snowflake user's default role is used for the connection. Need the ability to specify a Snowflake role if a user is assigned to more than one role. Role is already an optional parameter in the ODBC connector that is required to be installed. Using the ODBC connector instead will not work as DirectQuery is needed from the Snowflake Connector.

  20. Stop Dataset refresh

Please provide option to stop refreshing dataset after refreshing manually...

If there are any performance issues in database this would lock down the table...

I even observed that reports doesnt get published until the refresh is done...
