  2. Last Business Day of Month Transformation

Within the context of Power Query, add a date transformation that would show the last business day of the month. It would be very useful for converting daily market data into monthly market data, as often the last day of the month is a holiday or a weekend.

  4. Deselect Multiple columns

Just Thinking of easy way to deselect Mutiple columns in PBI designer -->Query -->"Choose Columns" then there in the available column list select multiple columns by holding Shift key then right click "Deselect Selected columns" :-)
This will make our life easy if there are 100 columns from source but we need only 20 columns :-)

  6. Disable load for query group or change default setting

Often I've got an entire query group of "intermediate" queries that I don't want loaded.

It would be great if I could mark a group as "Do not load", or change the default setting of "Enable Load"

  7. Azure Login and Datasource Browsing

Visual Studio allows those with Azure accounts to sign-in and browse their available objects: SQL Azure DBs, Blob Stores, even Websites. It would be great if this existed in the Designer.

Today, you have to lookup your Azure server name (non-memorable gibberish like 'axh98pt') for each datasource, then Google for the rest of the URL (its databases.windows.net for SQL Azure). Once you've done that you can proceed.

  9. Power BI Designer Connection to existing real-time Power BI data sets.

I would like to be able to use Power BI Designer with the data sets that have been automatically created by Azure Stream Analytics. Either this, or the browser based report editor experience embedded in Power BI needs to be the same as is available in the Power BI Designer. I don't mind which.

  10. Design Best Practices Analyzer

A great design tool is still only as good as the designer. Fortunately the industry has well established design best practices for charts/reports/dashboards (e.g. Stephen Few, Edward Tufte). A Design Best Practices Analyzer could examine a design recommend changes to improve its utility and readability. For example: are colors used to represent categories consistently across charts? Are grid lines used to support value comparison? Is the use of ineffective visualizations (e.g. pie charts) minimized. Are quantitative scales present for appropriate axes? Do scales start at zero for bar charts? etc.

  11. Visual Data Modeling interface

Visual Data Modeling interface capable of designing/changing/moving measures, calculated columns, hierarchies, tables's relationship, and so on, between data models. Even copy/paste the complete or part of the data model to other Power BI sites

  12. scripted view of the data model

Make the model scriptable would be great. Today in Power Query you have possibility to switch to the advanced view where you have the scripted version of the transformation. Having the scripted version of the data model, where measures and calculated columns for all tables are all together in a single scripted view would be useful and would speed up the data model design process

  13. Prevent refresh when in query designer

The query designer takes a long time on slow data sources.

When designing the query, a automatically refresh takes a long time.

A manual refresh would be preferable. Or by an option in the designer

  14. GCD and LCD Functions or the ability to display ratios as 1:3

I would like to have either the GCD and LCD functions or the ability to display ratios as 1:3. From a HR stand point for showing gender transparency, being able to show on a report that there is 1 female to 3 males in the workforce would be helpful.

  15. Power BI Designer and PowerShell better together

Are there any plans for Power BI Designer "better together" with PowerShell? I would be able to "Get Data -> PowerShell" where I would point designer to a PS script. Designer would execute PS script and resulting tables (one or more) would be loaded into data model.

I understand I can do it today via CSV files but that requires some additional steps (and creation of CSV files) compared to what I have in mind.

  16. Use Power BI Analysis Services Connector in Power BI Designer

Explore Analysis Services cubes (tabular or multidimensional) in Power BI Designer using Power BI Analysis Services Connector, same way you can do in Power BI web environment.

  17. Re-integrate 3D PowerMap into BI Designer

There have been some good updates to the new PowerDesigner product, but the inability to generate 3D world maps like in the PowerMap COM Add-in to Excel are missed. Please bring them back in the final product.

  18. Enable PowerBI Designer to work with High DPI screens / scaling

High DPI screens are becoming more common, yet if you scale the fonts up from anything over 100%, PBID is not showing the text and numbers completely.

  19. auto refresh: Power BI designer

    1. allow data refresh from Power BI's datasets that were imported from Power BI designer files

    2. within Power BI designer, implement ability to auto/schedule refresh of the Power Query data sources

  20. UI feedback: Improve the download button

The download button for downloading the tools looks like it's going to download the current dashboard or something. It took me a few minutes of looking for the Designer download before I decided to try clicking the download button.
