  1. The ability to message all Power BI users from the Power BI service

    If you run a Power BI platform for a lot of users you should be able to send /push notifications to them. We are currently experiencing high fail rates and it would be great to alert all users that we're busy looking into it.

  2. Power Platform Admin Portal

    Allow the Power BI admin role to access the Power Platform admin portal. This will allow the Power BI admin to see all data gateways used in an organization.

  4. Disable or prevent Teams from autocreating App Workspace

    Please introduce a global setting to Prevent Teams from creating PowerBi App Workspace automatically when creating a new Team. As the new Workspaces are detached from Teams/Groups this should be a setting to prevent the App Workspaces beeing clotted with empty Workspaces from all our Teams.

  5. Allow subscriptions to personal bookmarks

    Please add the ability to subscribe to personal bookmarks. The "Subscribe" feature currently sends a snapshot of the default view with no ability to customize filters in the subscription.

    The recent addition of personal bookmarks allows our users to customize reports as needed, and they have been asking for a way to get these personalized bookmark views sent by email. If you could extend the personal bookmarks to the subscription options that would be very helpful.

  6. Subscribe others to emails for reports or dashboards that have RLS

    Power BI now allows users to subscribe others to emails for reports and dashboards. However, if RLS is applied to the dataset this is not possible. This idea will remove this restriction.

  7. Disable 'Analyze in Excel' at the Workspace Level

    Disabling 'Analyze in Excel' at the Report and Tenant level is available as an Admin, but not at the Workspace level. Ideally, as an Admin, we should be able to control this capability NOT just at the tenant/report level.

    Use case would be when we have various customer groups that have requirements to disable this functionality but do not want to have to lock down the reports (report by report) or at the Tenant level, which impacts all users within Power BI.

  8. Notify me when credentials for scheduled refresh expire

    Today, 10-15 of my scheduled refreshes for both datasets and dataflows failed because the credentials cached in the PowerBI service for SharePoint expired. It took only a few minutes to renew those credentials, but several hours to re-refresh the dataflows (they all hit the same source, and time out if fired at once. They are scheduled for staggered refresh). If I had been notified by email before the refreshes failed instead of after, I could have easily renewed the credentials in question.

    Note that my user account/password did not change. The access token stored by PBI merely expired.

  9. Allow workspace tagging

    As an IT administrator responsible for PBI Service management and governance. I would like the ability to create free form tags (Similar to azure portal tags). to track key metadata like a GL Code or responsible business department or other business specific information. These tags should be exposed via the API so they can be used to pull back in reports. tagging assets in the workspace (Reports, dashboards datasets) would be useful as well

  10. Track Usage of Customer Power BI Visuals

    I would like to be able to track how many users use (as creators or viewers) a certain custom visual. This will allow me to communicate to external vendors on actual usage and acquire the right amount of paid licenses. Currently I do not have such an option and I need to acquire licenses for the entire tenant even if the custom visual is only used in a very small group

  11. Include Reports/Dashboards from Multiple Workspaces in One App

    Similar to ideas around creating multiple apps from one workspace, it would be very beneficial to have the ability to create a high-level app that includes reports from multiple workspaces. For example, our executive team would like to see specific reports from sales, accounting, and fields ops in one app instead of navigating to three different apps/workspaces to view the appropriate reports.

  12. Navigation builder "Section level security"

    The new navigation builder is awesome for published apps, but it would be great to control access/visibility of sections to certain users of the application.

    We avoid creating multiple app workspaces for multiple groups because it has become too difficult to manage, especially when publishing the same report to multiple workspaces that are filtered slightly differently.

    Essentially, if I am in a specific business line, I should only see my business line's "section" in the new navigation builder based on how the workspace admin sets the security.

    Audit Logs should be available to Power BI Admins without need to be Global Admin or have declared rights/roles in Exchange Online

  14. A too/feature is needed to convert classic workspace to new workspace

    The new workspace has been the default workspace type. However, currently there is no way to convert a classic workspace to new workspace. A tool or feature is needed to do this job. We have many classic workspaces, and we wish to convert them to new work spaces.

  15. Dynamics Accessibility in a Workspace | Controlling Report Visibility

    Hi Everyone,

    Firstly, I should say that we might have a lot of workspaces to publish our reports to. Over time it might get confusing to track which content is where and which users have access to it.

    That's why I suggest controlling the visibility of reports for each member. What I mean is that for example we have a workspace for one business division and we have a lot of members in the said division. Instead of creating another workspace we can give users permission to view specific reports in the workspace.

  16. View the related data sources of the report

    Under usage metrics, the admin should be able to view the related data sources of the report or identify the reports that are using a particular data source.
    For ex: We want to view all the reports that are using ADLS as a data source.
    This could be involved under usage metrics or any other UI. This will help the organizations in identifying the usage of different data sources, how many users are interacting with this report, how many times this is viewed or shared.
    This is a request from many users from different organization.

  17. Power BI Admin: Disable "Share" function completely

    We have Power BI Premium, we want view-only users to only access reports via the published Power BI Apps using their their Power BI Free license.

    But because sharing is available from within the Workspaces, Pro Users are trying to use the "Share" functionality instead, this results in those view-only users requiring a Pro license and opting to take the Power BI Pro Trial (also can't be prevented!).

    We need to disable the "share" function so that we can manage how people access content, incur costs and are affected by Pro user changes.

  18. Enable "Analyze in Excel" and "Export data from a visual" for users with Viewer role

    Today, user needs at least 'Contributor' role to export data to Excel or to use 'Analyze in Excel'. We have a lot of use cases when we don't want enable users to modify existing reports but we would like to empower them to export data to Excel (keeping row-level security settings of course).

  19. Ability to turn on and off a permission to allow Workspace users with a Viewer user type to edit or not be able to reports in the workspace

    With the new workspace experience, we now have the ability to assign users as members, contributors or viewers, which is much better than the old ways. However, we do have use cases where we need someone to be able to edit a report within PBI Service, but we do not want them to be able to edit datasets, streaming datasets or dataflows. We also do not want them to be able to download a report. The best option is to set them as a Viewer, but then they can't edit the report.

  20. Power BI Deployment Wizard

    The Power BI Deployment Wizard would provide a graphical interface within an app workspace to define all the required variables of the deployment including target workspace, target dataset (or copy dataset), which reports and dashboards to deploy, etc.

    Additionally, the deployment wizard would optionally export out a PowerShell script reflecting the defined deployment. Thus, if the scenario reflects a common pattern or standard the team wishes to follow, the script could be reused across other deployments.
