  1. Field Format - Report Wide

    We often have columns or measures that we want to be formatted the same in EVERY report tab in EVERY visual the same way. There is no universal method to format a measure in every visual in a report. We have to go into each visual on each report tab and do the exact same field formatting (colors, etc.) in each visual. We would like there to be a Universal option.

    And, you know what will come next? :-) No doubt, somebody will want the formatting to be report wide EXCEPT for one single visual somewhere. Is that possible too?

  2. Visibilty (Hide an Item)

    Develop an item formatting property which allows to set the visibility of a report item when you want to conditionally hide the item based on a report parameter or some other expression that you specify (also DAX expressions).

    You can develop this incrementally starting from visuals, then text boxes, then shapes and buttons....

    If you want to go the extra mile, you can also develop a functionality that allows the final user to toggle the visibility of report items.

  3. Allow Pro Users to Publish RDL files from Report Builder

    The current version of the report builder can only be published by premium capacity accounts. It would be awesome to include this feature for pro users as well and allow us to add paginated reports to our apps we develop. We have a flat organizational structure and tend to use power BI for clients. We all have pro licenses but there is not much sense to buy premium capacity at this time. However, having this feature would be a huge benefit to everyone using power bi under pro accounts.

  4. Toggle Counts on/off in Filter Pane

    The new Filter Pane experience is really nice. However, the count numbers next to the selection boxes in the Basic drop downs can be confusing to users - they can have no relevance to what is showing on the page. Please add functionality to where these counts be toggled off!

  5. Remove default values from Tooltips

    Enable the ability to selectively remove default values from displaying in tooltips.

    This same idea request is bundled into several other tooltip related idea requests that together had over 1,000 votes:

  6. Please include the option of Exporting Power BI reports to Excel which will include all the items present in the report

    Please upgrade the feature of Exporting Power BI reports to Excel which will include all the items present in the report.

    Currently Power BI reports exports only the individual visualization(Table/Matrix) by clicking on "..." options but instead we want to export the whole report at once.

    Just like how the SSRS reports exports into excel by keeping the logos, headers, formatting and other items when exported to excel.

    Requesting Microsoft Power BI team to include this functionality in Power BI as this is a life saver and absolutely necessary for our Organization.

  7. B2B Workspace Contributors not able to republish reports via Power BI Service

    B2B users, set up as Contributors to a workspace, are unable to replace a report with an updated version. Contributors do not have access to modify a dataset, which is required when republishing a report with a modified version. The contributor role should include data set replacement privileges.

    The option where you can enable particular users to modify a report via the dataset tab is inefficient in a large organization using a premium capacity with a large number of contributors distributed across many teams.

  8. Separate settings for Export Data and Build Permission

    The current setup of Build Permission is too extensive and I see a need to find a middle ground in terms of data access permission. What I (and I assume others) need is a middle-level configuration where users cannot build new reports on the dataset (including analyze-in-excel), but can still use Export to Excel based on pre-configuered visuals. This way the developer can control what data granularity or filter is available to the consumers.

    This ties in to existing requests to disable Analyze-in-Excel feature specifically, and now expands into the broader scenario of Build Permission and shared datasets.

  9. Change Default Slicer Selection Controls

    The ability to set the default selection controls should be in the Options. When using a Slicer, I want to be able to turn OFF the Multi-select with CTRL and turn ON the Show "Select All" Option. This is the opposite of the current defaults. I would rather set this once for the entire report as the default my preferred method rather than having to change this on each slicer that has these options available.

  10. Change order of filters in filter pane

    I love the new filter experience, much better. It would be great if the filters in the filter pane could be ordered by the author.
    At times there are filters that have a natural hierarchy (Region/Plant; Manager/Employee) and presenting them in the wrong sequence causes the users to become confused.

  11. DAX for SSAS Multidimensional

    Enable DAX support for reports using live connection to SQL Server Multi-Dimensional in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service. Simple DAX measures like: Amount in Thousands = [Measure]/1000. TGT Variance = [Actual]-[Target] etc. could be created on report level and would be massively useful. Now I must extend enterprise data model (cube) every time when I need something like [Measure]/1000 in one Power BI report. This is crazy. I understand, that because Multidimensional don’t understand concept of Table, so some DAX functions will not work. This should be developer’s responsibility to develop and test. If intellisense doesn’t work also…

  12. Filter by visible values in a matrix/table column

    Most competing BI tools have a feature that lets you take the output of one query to use as a filter for another query. For an analyst, this is a very valuable feature. Unfortunately, Power BI does not provides this functionality, unless you're prepared to write some complicated DAX.

    Consider the following scenario:

  13. matrix data export to excel

    Matrix data is exported to excel in tabular format. It is a lot of rework to again pivot it in excel. We want a visual matrix to be exported to excel as a matrix/cross tab.
    same is for charts. we dont want just the underlying data. When exporting to excel from Powerbi Service, we want it to be exported as-is with all the visuals.
    So many posts on this topic and no answers so far.

  14. Retain the formatting of columns when Power BI reports are exported to excel

    Requesting Power BI team to include this feature of retaining the formatting of columns when Power BI reports are exported to excel.

    Just like SSRS and Paginated reports when exported to excel has the "Word wrap" and other rich formatting, we would need the same for Power BI reports when exported to excel as well.

  15. Rate your report (direct feedback)

    It would be useful if a user of a report can give direct feedback on it by giving it a 1-5 star rating plus some comments (for each report tab). Also nice if as a report user I can see how others rate the pages in the report.

  16. Give users the ability to share a personal bookmark or filtered view from an app

    Users want to easily share a link that will take others to the exact view they are looking at. Workspace versions of reports allow for sharing with filters, now we really need the same thing for Apps. Workarounds exist (commenting, editing URL, etc), but they are not great or easy for our users. We can share report level bookmark links, but not personal bookmarks.

  17. Export to PDF with Custom Font

    Custom fonts can be embedded to reports in the Power BI Service, however when exporting to PDF or PPT the Custom Font will not show up anymore. Please allow the export to keep the custom font so everything stays consistent.

  18. Control which bookmarks are viewable in the service

    This idea has come about from the introduction of personal bookmarks in the PBI Service: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-personal-bookmarks-in-the-power-bi-service/

    Many report creators use bookmarks as a dynamic way of showing/hiding visuals, or navigating between tabs. Exposing an end user to these bookmarks could be confusing for them and expose the underlying workings of the report.

    Personal bookmarks are great, but an option in PBI Desktop to expose certain bookmarks in the PBI Service would satisfy both report creators and consumers.

  19. Power BI as a Data Source for Microsoft Word

    Power BI is a great tool for Data visualization but not the best for List/Print Reporting.

    Paginated Reports are good but are not suited for End Users.

    In order to have an easy way to allow End users to create List/Print Reports on their own I believe Microsoft Word is a great tool for the purpose.

    The solution would be the following:
    - Use the XML Mapping functionality in Microsoft Word in order to connect to a Power BI Data Source.
    - Use the smart tags in order to allow the user to select the data data it wants.

  20. Export to PDF needs to include all rows in a Table or Matrix visualization

    The new feature Export to PDF appears to be just a screen capture of each report - whatever is currently being shown on the screen is what is captured in the pdf. When a report has a Table or Matrix visualization on it with rows that scroll beyond what is shown, these are not captured in the pdf. Need to have all the data show up in the pdf.
