    • PowerBI connector for Microsoft Graph

Add PowerBI connector for Microsoft Graph with oAuth authentication or another direct connector to Azure AD.

Details are described at the discussion https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Error-getting-OData-from-Microsoft-Graph-Access-to-the-resource/idi-p/430087

      • Allow direct access to the subfolder of the OndeDrive for Business or Personal OneDrive.

Through the ability to connect to a Sharepoint Folder, we can connect Power BI to the OneDrive for Business root folder. This is excellent and very important, but insufficient. Most projects require that files be organized in subfolders, to which direct access is not allowed. There are ways to do this, but they are not efficient. I suggest that the solution be enhanced to allow direct access to the subfolders located in the root folder of OneDrive For Business or even Personal OneDrive, just as you can with folders and their subfolders located in Drive C on the desktop or…

        • Publishing a Power BI dataset should *actually replace*

If you try to publish a report that is named the same thing as another report but the one published is import and the new report is live connect, then it will not replace the first dataset. When publishing it's more like Power BI "updates" the dataset. If you want to truly replace a dataset with another dataset that is direct query over an import, then you'll need delete the first dataset. Recently had an issue with this at my company. There is an interesting distinction between "update" and "replace." When Power BI says "replace" it should actually replace.

          • Improve SAP BW connector performance and BW memory comsumption

This idea is really about solving a performance issue with Power
BI‘s memory consumption when getting data from SAP BW.

Basically there are 2 issues but they are closely related, so I mention both in this idea.

1.When connecting to SAP BW, performance is extremely slow and Power BI uses too much SAP memory.

2.When accessing large SAP BW datasets, Power BI continues to use memory , until it consumes all available extended memory, and so impacts other users.

Here is an example of the Power BI memory consumption issue, compared to another SAP tool.

            My test case is:

            • Allow gateway to connect to multiple schema

Create multiple data sources for the same database but using multiple credentials. Allow access to different schemas from same gateway.

              • Microsoft Teams as Data Source

I want to connect Microsoft Teams as Data Source by Power BI.

                Scenario:
                - Create a report from the topic of the channel of Team.
like Word Crowd of the channel.
                - Create a report from the usage of Microsoft Teams.
like the topic count each channel, member count, total duration.
                - Create a report of usage of Microsoft Teams relate with other systems.
like a report with Microsoft Teams and Customer Services.

                • Only allow the owner of a dataset to overwrite it

Currently any member of a workspace can overwrite the existing dataset by publishing their version to that workspace. It would be beneficial if only workspace Admins and/or the Dataset Owner could overwrite an existing dataset as the current option allows for the dataset to be manipulated by members which would then impact all reports within that workspace as well as and published apps. As an organisation we want to be able to trust that a dataset built by our BI team will not be altered unless approved/agreed with the dataset owner as to do so could cause conflicting data results.

                  • Flexible handling of CSV source column count

The current csv connector requires knowledge of the number of columns.

                    Source = Csv.Document(Web.Contents("somefile.csv"),[Delimiter=",", Columns=105, Encoding=1252, QuoteStyle=QuoteStyle.Csv]),

In our business process the number of columns changes over time, with new columns being added, others being removed. The connector is oblivious to that, so if the file now has 110 columns the connector would still just import the first 105 columns.

Request is to have a "Columns=auto" option that would adjust to the source file changes dynamically.

                    • Native Azure Databricks Connector with AAD Authentication

Currently connecting to Azure Databricks is supported through the Spark Connector using a token.
Adding a connector that supports forwarding your AAD identity to Databricks will allow enhanced security and self service scenarios (where you will only be able to access data you're privileged to see).

                      • Fully featured webservice connector for SOAP and REST

As a BI consultant for small to medium enterprises I am running into webservice sources more and more.

The current web connector in Power BI does not provide for many features to help you in extracting data from webservices.

Many times we need to use pagination or repeat requests to the service with variable parameters. There is no support for this without scripting.

In the Netherlands I run into SOAP webservices a lot still. I am a dedicated Power BI consultant but my Qlik colleagues certainly have an edge with webservice extraction.

We need to change that! Please give us…

                        • Stop Dataset refresh

Please provide option to stop refreshing dataset after refreshing manually...

If there are any performance issues in database this would lock down the table...

I even observed that reports doesnt get published until the refresh is done...

I need to build metrics/tiles that incorporate data from two different cubes--not just presenting measures from different cubes on one tile but using measures from different cubes to create custom calculation on one tile.

                            • Don't reload old data in append queries when refreshing

For the love of all that is holy, please create a way to designate old data sources that don't get refreshed so that Power BI doesn't have to reload them every time a source they're appended to is refreshed.

                              Example:
I have two .csv files as sources, each about 300MB. One houses old data that never changes; the other gets new rows added daily through a separate process. The old .csv is appended to the new .csv in Power BI. When I refresh the new .csv, the old .csv also loads. That's not too big of a problem in and…

                              • Add SSAS Tabular Translations using Live Connection in Power BI Service

We need the Powerbi Service to handle translations from a SSAS Tabular using Live Connection. the functionality is already in SSAS, however it doesn't work when the tabular model is published to the Power BI service using live connection.

It has been working, (although not supported)

                                • Allow users to control whether or not users can export underlying data at the report level. In the education (PII)realm this is essential.

Right now, in an education environment, we are often developing dashboards from flat files of state or local data. This data includes specific details of PII that must be limited with an agility that becomes unmanageable in large school districts. Our best solution is to have the ability to limit access to underlying data for certain reports. Right now, we can only flip that switch at the org level. This makes your product extremely limited in is usage for our environment.

                                  • Allow CTRL + F in the Advanced Editor

When modifying queries, it would be nice to have the CTRL + F shortcut available so we would not have to copy everything in NotePad and re-copy in the advanced editor.

                                    • Impersonate Sharepoint Online Connection

                                      scenario involves
                                      1. From Power BI desktop, Connect to SharePoint Online list using a organizational account, assuming that that access to list is ensured.
                                      2. Build Power BI report using imported data.
                                      3. Publish report to cloud service portal (https://app.powerbi.com) with same organization account.
                                      4. Login to SharePoint online, Embed the published report to a page using Power BI web part.

Typical case, user viewing the embedded report need not require access to SharePoint list data.

                                      • Refresh BigQuery data sources using a service account

Traditionally with ODBC connections, we are able to use a service account and key on the gateway server. This allows refreshes in the cloud without using a personal account. Our user accounts in BigQuery authenticate via a third party IdP where MFA and IP restrictions are in place.

When setting up data source credentials for a BigQuery dataset, it only shows an OAUTH2 option which then takes us to a Google username/password logon.

We need to be able set up a data source using a service account and key instead.
