  1. Tracking shared dataset with Rest API

Ability to track a shared dataset using Rest API.
Although it can be tracked in another way (below article), Rest API would be convenient.

    Track your dataset usage

  2. OData.Feed should support entity bound function with same name as property

Microsoft case 119083024001340 was filed for an issue causing a failure in OData.Feed when reading valid OData metadata. Microsoft Product Group agreed there is an issue but will not fix it unless there is sufficient votes.

The issue occurs if an OData entity, lets call it MyNamespace.E1, has a property named JobStatus and there is also a bound function also named JobStatus that is bound to MyNamespace.E1. In this case, when OData.Feed reads $metadata from the OData API, it throws an exception:
[Expression.Error] The field 'JobStatus' already exists in the record.\r\nStackTrace:\n at Microsoft.Mashup.Engine1.Runtime.KeysBuilder.Add(String key).

Again, just to be clear, Microsoft…

  3. Power BI direct connector to ADLS2 (Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2) thus Power BI directly connect to ADLS2 for reporting and Firewall slider

currently Power BI does not have direct connection to ADLS2 and requires Power BI Dataflow to access the ADLS2 data which causing data redundancy and creating extra hop for the same data and can be directly consume form ADLS2. Power BI direct connection with ADLS2 is great addition for Advance Data Analytics and firewall slider Power BI which enable exclusive access Power BI similar to AAS (Azure Analysis Service) .

  4. Power Query: Make it easier to connect to files on OneDrive and SharePoint

Connecting to files stored on OneDrive and SharePoint is a difficult and confusing experience. While it is possible, it is far too difficult.

As more and more move to working in an online environment we need a simple way of connecting.

  5. Proxy value for Snowflake Connector

Within Power Bi Desktop Snowflake connector give users the option to enter proxy information in order to connect to the Native Connector. This option is available in ODBC and is sometimes needed in order to make the connection to Snowflake.

  6. Enable Parallel Query Submission for Snowflake

Snowflake is super fast at running queries but PowerBI is slowing dashboards down by executing all the queries serially. Please prioritise work to fix this.

This following issue about direct queries processing sequentially is related: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Direct-queries-are-processing-sequentially/idc-p/847026/highlight/true#M50664

  7. Allow for connections to multiple data sources when using Power BI shared dataset

Currently there is a limitation when using the newly released "Shared Datasets" feature that restricts you to only that source.

We would like the ability to use multiple different sources, Excel, SQL, etc... when using a shared dataset.

  8. Add support for Role in Snowflake Connector

Currently, the Snowflake user's default role is used for the connection. Need the ability to specify a Snowflake role if a user is assigned to more than one role. Role is already an optional parameter in the ODBC connector that is required to be installed. Using the ODBC connector instead will not work as DirectQuery is needed from the Snowflake Connector.

  9. Stop Dataset refresh

Please provide option to stop refreshing dataset after refreshing manually...

If there are any performance issues in database this would lock down the table...

I even observed that reports doesnt get published until the refresh is done...

  10. CDS integration in Power BI with Direct Query option

    Hi everyone,
Currently the "Common Data Service (beta)" connector in Power BI only features "import" queries for data.
In 2017 there was a release of a "PowerApps Common Data Service" connector, that featured direct queries:
    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/cdsconnectortopowerbi/
    "Reports reflect real time data
There’s no need to schedule a refresh in Power BI. When the data is updated in CDS, changes are reflected in reports. Reports are interactive and responsive. You can interactively explore CDS data using the capabilities of Power BI."
    Will this feature come again?
Direct query would be especially helpful in combination with passign through the current user, so…

  11. Kerberos Unconstrained Delegation

Currently, only constrained delegation is supported with SQL Server connections. The Kerberos standard has constrained and unconstrained delegation. Please support unconstrained Kerberos delegation. Source: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-sso-kerberos.

  12. Ease of Use for ADLS Gen 2 Connector

I've given my client a bit of time to work with the ADLS G2 and Power BI and the feedback I'm getting from several of the users involved all comes down to the same issue. This is concerning the view the user gets of the data lake store when then are working through the 'get data' routine using the new connector for ADLS Gen2 2. They all want to see a hierarchical folder structure presented them as it is in Explorer on their own machines or in the Azure Storage Explorer. The data lake they are working with has a…

  13. Multiple live connections

We have created a ‘golden dataset’ using Azure Analysis Services. Unfortunately, Power BI only supports only one live connection.
Hence, people go back to Excel to combine data from different (Tabular) models because Excel supports combining an almost indefinite number of connections from different sources.
I suggest to extent to ability of Power BI to support multiple live connections, starting binding the live connection to a Power BI page, so not the ability to combine the models.
Filtering could be ‘global’, so across the models.
This way you can present the user a Power BI report that makes use of…

  14. Data Credential Issues - Inconsistency in data when connecting Power BI Google Analytics Connector to Google Analytics

When using the Power BI Google analytics connector to pull the data from Google Analytics, it pulls the random data and not matching with Google Query analyzer data. I can see PBI is manipulating the data. There is no point to use this connector if it is fetching the wrong information, so as a user of the PBI reporting tool I strongly recommend fixing this issue ASAP.

  15. Add gsheets as a datasource

    Hi,

I would like to use *.gsheet files as datasources.
Right now I need to convert my gsheet file to a xmls file, upload it again to gdrive and then refer to them using Drive File Stream in order to use it from any pc from the office.

If I could read the sheet directly I would not need to perform all the steps and it would be automatic.

    Thanks,
    Nora.

  16. Extend Shared Dataset / Data Model

Shared datasets is a very powerful tool that we are beginning to use in our organization. We want our users to leverage a shared dataset as much as possible when building their reports. However, if the user wants to add an entity or two to the data model, they can only do that by requesting it to be added to the base model.

I propose a feature where a user could "extend" an existing data model from a shared dataset that would only impact their version, or view of the model, leaving the original model intact and unchanged.

  18. Expose calculated members on user hierarchies when live connected to SSAS Multidimensional

Currently, when we create calculated members in SSAS Multidimensional and put them on a user hierarchy (parent-child) they don't show on Power BI.

These calculated hierarchy elements are very useful in many scenarios, it would be great for PowerBI to be able to show them.

  19. Microsoft Teams as Data Source

I want to connect Microsoft Teams as Data Source by Power BI.

    Scenario:
    - Create a report from the topic of the channel of Team.
like Word Crowd of the channel.
    - Create a report from the usage of Microsoft Teams.
like the topic count each channel, member count, total duration.
    - Create a report of usage of Microsoft Teams relate with other systems.
like a report with Microsoft Teams and Customer Services.

  20. Automatically add read permission to dataset when user has been added to a role

When adding a user to a role in a dataset, he doesn't automatically get the 'Read' permission on the dataset. This causes an issue when you have a report in another workspace based on this dataset and then publish an App. Although the user has been added to the app and is assigned to a role, the user still sees the warning that he has no access to the dataset.

That is because you need to give him Read permission manually in the 'Manage permissions' screen. This is behaviour I did not expect.

Already posted two issues about this:
    https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Row-level-security-on-dataset/idc-p/895936#M52547
