  2. Connect to Dataflows from Excel's Power Query

Please allow the connection to Dataflows' entities from Excel's Power Query.
There are many cases when customers use Excel and not Power BI. But Dataflows can make the refresh process much faster for them.
    Thanks

  4. Dataflow refresh fails if the underlying datasource have date field

Dataflow refresh fails if the underlying data source have date field. Currently the workaround is to convert the datatype to datetime to make it work.

  6. Row Level Security in Data Flows

It would be helpful if Row Level Security could be defined on entities within a Data Flow, so that a single data flow could be used as a repository for different users (with different access rights) to get data.

  7. Trigger dataflow refresh by refreshing connected dataset or from Power Automate

There should be option to switch on Data Flow refreshes by refreshing Dataset using it or to trigger DataFlow refresh from Flow (Power Automate).

I can trigger dataset refresh with Power Automate after SharePoint folder is updated, but it's useless if DataFlow will not refresh tables which are being used by report.

  8. Replace Dataflow M Code (Keep Dataflow ID)

Ability to fully replace entire Dataflow M code (overwrite) without creating a new Dataflow, and without having to go into each entity/query one by one. This could be done via import of .json, IF import does NOT create new Dataflow (with new Dataflow ID, which it currently does). Basically import and replace type of functionality. It would enable continued/consistent Dataflow ID and links to Datasets to remain intact.

  9. Dataflow-based Datasets in service

The dataflows product is potentially very useful - I especially like the idea of being able to append historical data to incrementally refreshed data.

However, one major drawback is the fact that in order to use a dataflow in a dataset, you have to download it to the desktop, and then upload it back to the service once you've completed your data model.

It would be great if you only had to use the preview version of the dataflow in desktop, or even better, if you could do all modelling, DAX etc. completely within the service.

    If there are workarounds…

  10. Share Dataflow Ownership with Workspace Admins

We need to allow all admins of the workspace in which the dataflow is held to be able to edit the flow. Multiple people contribute to a dataflow at different stages of a project but all need to be able to review, understand and if necessary edit the dataflow

  11. SQL Server Analysis Service connection to Dataflow

Support Dataflow connections to SQL Server Analysis Service (SSAS), which desktop data sets allow users to do.

At the moment, dataflow does not even support the use of a copied M script from desktop connected to SSAS in a blank query.

    See forum post below:

  12. Linage view and refresh dependencies between dataflows shall work even if data source is appointed with a parameter

Neither the Linage view or the Refresh dependencies between linked dataflows works when the dependent data source is appointed by a M parameter. Concerning the Linage View, this is also true between a dataset and a dataflow. So please note that this issue is not only isolated to dependencies between dataflows, it the same between datasets and dataflows

This is treated as by-design by the product group (case number 1120050422002035), but they might be willing to change opinion if this gets many votes.

If this doesn't work, neither linked dataflows or the Linage view works as expected whenever you use…

  14. Measuring Power BI dataflow

Power BI dataflows provide a great medium to syndicate sets of data to business units to run analytics. It enables faster access to reporting data.

While there are highlevel utilization metrics on PBI reports, there is no way to measure dataflow utilization and uptake. It is critical to PowerBI success to understand the number of reports currently connected to any given dataflow and quantity of refreshes. Without a method to measure adoption and utilization of each dataflow, growth and ROI become guessing games.

  15. Dataflow REST API - Get Refresh History

Please add this operation. It is extremely useful in case of Datasets to monitor refreshes and even more important for me to check whether the refresh is stil going on or is already finished (and with what status). Based on this information I can either rerun the refresh or initialize following data transformation.

  16. Add multiple storage accounts in Dataflow Admin portal

Users should be able to add multiple storage accounts in Dataflow settings of Power BI Admin Portal. This would enable one to attach a CDM model of a different storage account.
This is also required so that multiple Power products as Power Apps and Power BI can be used efficiently.

  17. DataFlow Copy/Paste Queries from PBI Desktop/Excel

Ability to copy paste queries from PBI Desktop/Excel to DataFlow in PowerBI Service to create new DataFlows.

The UI in PBI is more friendly, we often design the queries in Excel and PowerBi Desktop, to copy them into service, especially for the nested queries, it's a long and arduous process of copying each one into the service from advanced Editor and matching names.

We are making a lot of data behind datasets available to the users. It'll be very convenient for major users of DataFlows

  18. Better deployment method for Dataflows

Our policy is perform dev and test efforts separately from production, therefore we develop and test data sets and Data flows in test work spaces. Once we are satisfied with their behavior and performance, we publish them into the production workspace. With PBIT files, it is easy for us to publish approved data models and reports into the production work spaces. Because data flows are built within PBI Service and have no file association, it is difficult to migrate them from test to production. We currently have to rebuild the entire Data flow in production, which is risky an cumbersome.

  19. Dataflow Entity descriptions should be displayed in Power BI desktop

When adding descriptions to tables in desktop Power Query editor the description field is displayed as hover text elsewhere throughout Power BI desktop. Data entities that have descriptions should also have inherited description fields. It would also be nice if the Workspace and Dataflow descriptions were visible in some way (hovertips) in the Dataflow navigator pane.

  20. Take or Transfer Ownership of a Dataflow using Azure Data Lake Gen2 storage

The issue where ownership of dataflows could not be transferred has been fixed when using the default storage see: ( https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/36179125-take-or-transfer-ownership-of-a-dataflow )
This option is not working when the storage account is set to Azure Data Lake Gen2 storage.
Would it be possible to add the same "Takeover" functionality?
